Theme: “The world of animals”(Form 4)

Aims

Practical: to continue the acquaintance with the  topic «Nature», different animals;to introduce new lexical items of the animals; to develop  lexical skills, reading skills through the dialogues reading ,grammar skills (Degrees of comparison of the adjectives), writing and oral speech; listening skills; discovered the place of living different animals. to develop the cognitive activity of students in the process of learning a foreign language and Nature Study lessons; to develop ability to think creatively. to raise the sense of the importance taking care about the nature, careful attitude to nature, motivate students to put them personally meaningful goals of their own activities;to raise the interest in expanding their knowledge.

Type of the lesson:  integrated

Equipments didactic cards ,notebook, textbook  Nesvit A., audio and video materials.

Outcomes:By the end of the lesson students can recognize and describe different animals and find out  the difference between a zoo and the safari parks

 

Procedure

1. Greetings.

Good morning, my dear friends! - How are you? Today we have lesson-trip through the safari ,jungle , zoo and farm.

 

– Look at these cards let’s revise some sounds

Checking homework

You  have already learned the names of some animals. Now let’s unite  three groups. First group- “Elephant” , the second group – “Tigers”, the third group is “Fox” We will play the game “Losers and Winners”. One by one you should name animals you know. Who will keep silence more than three seconds then that team is “loser”

Students form teams. During the game name the animals.

Disclosure of the lesson topic

So, we continue to talk about animals. I see that you know a lot of them. But let’s name it one more time. (Work with cards)

Repeat after me!

(Teacher  displays  cards with animal names, tells the name of the animal - students repeat. If students have mistakes  in pronunciation, the teacher says again)

How can we splete into groups  all  the animals (wild and domestic. Write the names at the blackboard )
View the movie about jungle and safari and learn about the place of residence of different animals

Very nice!!! Children we have a lot of cards with animals. Let’s  unite  it!

Students go to the board and match  cards with animals to the groups "Wild" and "domestic",

And who can tell me where can we see a lot of animals?(zoo and safari-park.  )How do you think what is the difference between safari park and zoo?
Students tell. If the students do not know, the teacher tells)

Relax. (3 min.) The sun is – up, up, up.

The sky is – up, up, up.

The snow is – falling down

On my nose, on my head,

Everybody claps, claps, claps.

Zoo is the place where animals live in cages or fenced areas. You can go there and watch animals.Safari park is also known as Wildlife Park. You can drive on your own vehicle and watch how animal live in usual conditions.

Let’s compare it .Let’s say what is bigger or more interesting? But first tell me the rules of “Degrees of comparison”(Students make up the sentences and write down them at the blackboard)
Reading the dialogue.And now look at the ex.1 on page 60.Let’s read it and know what is it about (pair reading)

So, which animals did Steve meet there?

And now let’s write down words in your vocabularies. Look through the text one more time and tell me which one would you like to know? Which one would be useful for us while talking about animals and their life.

(Choose the words from the dialogue: exciting, trip, dangerous. )
The game (the students listen carefully to the sentences offered by the teacher, and if they are correct in content, they show the green circle, if not, the red one)

A teacher - Well, students, let’s play to find answer animals’ questions. I read sentences. If my statements will be correct, you show the green circle, if I am wrong –show the red one. Reply please, quickly. One, two, three, start!
Summing up Thank you, children for this wonderful lesson. On this lesson we discovered the difference between a zoo and a safari-park. Iam sure you can say and finish the sentences     I know……..I can use ……..
