Хід уроку:
І. The beginning of the lesson:
1.Greeting: Good morning! I’m glad to see you.
To whatever part of the world you went,
By wheel or sail, or wing or track,
You’ll have exciting things to tell
Now that you are safety back.
Can you guess the topic of today’s lesson? Right, we are to speak about travelling to unknown places.
2. Warming up: Before recalling your last travelling, let us revise the material about the history and the ways of travelling.
Slide 1-Travelling is exciting.
Slide 2- What is travelling?
Slide 3- History of travelling and tourism.
Slide 4 - Ways of travelling.
Slide 5- Season travelling.
Slide 6- Places of interest.
ІІ. The main part of the lesson: Well done.
1. Oral practice. Now I think it will be easier for everybody to recall your last travelling on foot (hiking or camping ) and interview your classmates. You may use the following:

2. Check on homework. For today your home task was to make up a plan to the text of ex.4 on p.59-60. Will some of the pupils read their variants to the class?
3. Writing: fill in the gaps ( cards attached ). You know a lot about kinds and means of travelling, but is it easy to choose the one for your holiday, for example? Let’s fill in the gaps and read the text about the process of choosing a holiday.
4. Listening. All means of travel are good and people choose one according to their plans and destinations. But have you ever travelled to study something? There are so many unknown places, so many exotic countries with their culture, history and traditions. Today we’ll listen to some interesting information about next year’s school trip to France. This trip is organized for all the winners of school Olympiad. It will be in June, 11-12.
a) Pre-listening: presenting the new words with the help of visual aids:
- the Eiffel Tower;
- the Louver;
- Marseilles;
-go by coach = go by local bus;
- educational visit = a visit to study something;
b) Listening:
As usual we shall spend the first 3 days in Paris. It is not only the particular city of France, it’s the capital of European fashion and art, a city of unique people. We’ll have a sightseeing tour about the city: among the places worth seeing there are Eiffel Tower, the Cathedral of Notre Dame, the Louver. Every traveller wants to visit the Louvre, the famous museum of world’s art.
From Paris we’ll travel down to the South of France near Marseilles. We shall spend 4 days there.
Last year we went by coach, but we found that the journey was too long and we didn’t have enough time to do everything we planned. So this time we’ll go by train.
There will be places for 60 students on the trip. We’ll travel in 2 groups and there will be 4 teachers with each group.
I hope that everyone on the trip will have a good time, but please remember that it is an educational visit, not a holiday. There will be some free time, but we are going to France to study French culture and to use the English language as much as possible.
c) Post- listening: Try to retell this text to your partner. Then change roles.
5. Role- play. Let’s dramatize mini role plays :
- as if you were a head teacher of the group;
- as if you were one of the lucky students who got a chance to visit Paris;
ІІІ. Finishing the lesson.
1) Summarizing the results of the lesson. We have had a lesson devoted to the topic ’’TRAVELLING ’’. What activity did you like most of all and why? Is France worth visiting? Look at the blackboard and find the proverb that illustrates our topic in the best way. Comment on your choice.
Journey and Travel
*Every journey gives you its own flavour.
*He that travels far knows much.
*So many countries, so many customs.
*A wise companion is half the journey.
*He who has a trade may travel through the world.
*Every departure has an arrival.
2) Homework: Be ready to speak about the city of your dreams, if possible- bring some pictures of its attractive places.
3) Evaluating the answers: I’d like to comment on mistakes some of you have made during dramatizing. And of course I want to distinguish the best answers. Thank you for being active. See you. Bye!
