Мета уроку:

  1. Навчальна: створення умов для усвідомлення учнями важливості захисту оточуючого середовища через розгляд екологічних проблем та шляхів їх розв’язання, активізація лексики з теми у різних видах діяльності (усному мовленні, аудіюванні).
  2. Розвиваюча: вдосконалення вміння працювати в групах; розвиток мислення, уваги, культури спілкування.
  3. Виховна: виховання у старшокласників екологічно доцільної поведінки, інтересу до вивчення теми, доброзичливості, моральності.  

I. Good morning, dear children, I’m so glad to meet you all today. My name is Natalia Olexandrivna and I’m really happy to have a possibility to work with you.

First of all I’d like you to look at each other. Please, smile to each other. Say some greeting words and wish good luck to each other. I wish you to be in high spirits, success, getting lots of positive emotions and hope you will work actively today. So, enjoy your lesson.

II. Now I would like you to watch a short video and try to guess what is the topic of our lesson today, what are we going to speak about.

What are we doing? Don’t you see? We’re causing devastation of our planet. We’re committing a suicide.

So, children, what are we going to speak about? Should we try to find some ways of stopping it together?

Today we’re going to speak not only about the problems of environmental protection, but also about the ways of solving those problems.

III.  Please look at the screen. To speak about something in English it is important to know the words to use. So please, I want you to find the Ukrainian  equivalents of the following words.

1) Seas  and rivers poisoning          промислові та ядерні відходи

2) air pollution                                  забруднення повітря

3) littering                                          вирубка лісів

4) soil pollution                                 вбивство тварин

5) cutting down forests                   забруднення ґрунту

On your desks you can see the green globes. They are  divided into three sections: the problem, the solution, “because”. Please write down the environmental problems from the first task .

IV.  Speaking about the environmental protection let’s get to know what do other people think about it. I mean proverbs, sayings and quotations of famous people. Here are the envelopes with the necessary phrases. I want the groups to choose 1) the quotes about nature ; 2) the quotes about the environmental protection; 3) native American poem.  Name them.

Then you should stick them into the “because” section.

V. Listening. I want you to watch a video and be very attentive now , because after that you should say 1) what will happen in 50 years, according to the scientists; 20 how many tons of bags are thrown away every year and what things can be recycled and reused by us.

V. Dear children, I hope it’s high time to have some rest to restore our mental abilities. I want you to close your eyes, listen and imagine…

 You can feel the thick fog like a warm wave flowing below. All your troubles, problems are disappearing in it. You feel the warmth. This warm fog is going upper and upper. And you become the part of it, become soft and warm. And you breathe And you feel your soul freedom and it’s light/ You’re up in the sky, you’re flying and breathing the air…

You can touch the clouds, be within them.

In this magic world you can bathe in those clouds, relax and rest. You are flying down to Earth, beautiful and quiet and find the place, where you’re happy. You are the one to decide what is it.It can be quiet forest river, a field of flowers or may be it’s somewhere high in the mountains where it’s cool and lonely. The air is fresh and cold and nobody else is there. Wonders can happen there and magic… This is the view of the sea from the cliff. You can build your house there.

Remember this place, this world and everything around. There is always such “somewhere’ on Earth, where you can come to and feel good, feel calm.

You see what you want to see, meet those who are so close to you. You are the master of this world, the part of it. And now don’t forget anything and come back slowly.

One, two, three – open your eyes, make a deep breath and smile.

So, how do you feel now? Are you ready to continue?

VI.  Panorama

Now, children, it’s time to find some ways of solving our problem/ I want you to fill the last section of your globes. You understand what the problem is, you are inclined to solve it and let’s try to find the ways to do it.  Please look at the last task and decide what we should do  (choose from the given list) , give some  ideas of your own.

- Develop international cooperation to solve ecological problems

- save water, gas, energy and other natural resources

- keep your towns, cities and countryside clean

- dump industrial waste into rivers, lakes, seas

- never brake trees when we go to the forest

- take litter home after the picnic

- reuse plastic containers

- grow trees and flowers

- not burn fires in the forests

- put litter away

- save energy and water at home

- leave the place clean when we hike

- not poison water, air and soil

- provide greater protection of  animals and wildlife

- preserve nature

- use recycling technologies

- plant more trees and flowers

- reduce pollution level

  • protect the wildlife

  • put new standards to all the cars
  • learn to use natural resources
  • reuse the things
  • remember about the future generations

VII. It’s time for summing up. There is a saying “Every person must built a house and plant a tree”. I would like you to do the same but not in a usual way. Let’s make the panorama of  your actions. Please write only one thing on a flower that you would certainly do after our lesson. Come and stick them around the Earth.

 An outstanding English writer John Galsworthy said “If you don’t think of the future  you will not have it”. Let’s think about the future. Let’s keep our planet tidy and make it better place to live in.  Let’s save the Earth for future generations.
