Тема: I've got a letter from my penfriend!

Ціль: 1) практична – вчити учнів читати та вилучати необхідну інформацію з тексту, вчити їх писати неформальні листи з опорою на текст-зразок ;

2) освітня – поглиблювати знання учнів про вже відомі факти британської культури;

3) розвиваюча – розвивати вміння спілкуватися в письмовій формі;

4) виховна – виховувати інтернаціоналізм, імунітет до націоналізму та шовінізму.

Обладнання: маленька сумочка, у якій лежить лист у конверті (Додаток 1), роздатковий матеріал (копії з текстом (Додаток 2), фрагмент мультфільму «Троє з Простоквашино»

Тема: I’ve got a letter from my penfriend!

Ціль: 1) практична – вчити учнів читати та вилучати необхідну інформацію з тексту, вчити їх писати неформальні листи з опорою на текст-зразок ;

3) розвиваюча – розвивати вміння спілкуватися в письмовій формі;

4) виховна – виховувати інтернаціоналізм, імунітет до націоналізму та шовінізму.

Обладнання: маленька сумочка, у якій лежить лист у конверті (Додаток 1), роздатковий матеріал (копії з текстом (Додаток 2), фрагмент мультфільму «Троє з Простоквашино»

Тип уроку: комбінований.

Хід уроку

І. Початок уроку

1) організація учнів до уроку (привітання, налаштування класу на роботу)

T.: Good morning class!

SS.: Good morning teacher!

T.: How are you today?

SS.: We are fine, thank you.

T.: OK, then let’s start our lesson.

2) фонетична зарядка

T.: Now let’s warm up our tongues for English. Repeat the tongue-twister: Tim’s thirteen and his sister’s three (3 times)

ІІ. Основна частина

1) презентація теми уроку, “What’s in my bag?”

Books closed. The teacher shows the students a little bag and asks them “What’s in my bag?” As the students give their answers the teacher ay give them some tips about the object in the bag e.g. It’s white, square, it has letters on it, etc. If the students can’t guess what is in the bag the teacher shows them a corner of this object, or, gives them to hold a bag without looking inside. Finally, the teacher shows them a letter in an envelope and says: “It is a letter!”

From: Taras

T.: Can you guess why I brought you this letter today?

SS give their variants and the teacher explains the reason.

T.: I brought you this letter today because I was very happy to get it although it wasn’t addressed to me. Can you read who it is from?

SS.: It is from Taras.

T.: And who is it to?

SS.: It is to Bill.

T.: So, our today’s topic is “I’ve got a letter from my pen friend!”

2) виконання вправи 1, сторінка 59.

T.: Let’s open your exercise books and let’s write today’s date. Is it Sunday today?

SS.: No, it isn’t.

T.: Is it Saturday?

SS.: No, it isn’t. (They name the corresponding day of the week and the teacher or one of the SS writes it on the blackboard).

T.: OK, now let’s write the date – is it the 1st of January?

SS.: No, it isn’t.

T.: Is it the 1st of September?

SS.: No, it isn’t. It is …( they name the corresponding date and the teacher or one of the SS writes it on the blackboard).

T.: All right. Write down the date and the topic of our today’s lesson. And now open your books on page 59. Let’s look, listen and repeat.

T.: And now I will give you the same letter but it has 5 mistakes in it. You are to spot these mistakes and to underline them in your copies. You have 2 minutes to do this task. (NB. The right answers are underlined in the text)

Dear Bill,

How are you? How are your friends?

I am not fine. I go to school now. My favourite days are Monday and Saturday. We have got English on these days. Maths is my favourite lesson. We speak, read and write English. We like singing Ukrainian songs and playing games. Which lesson do you like?

Bye,

T.: Well done guys and now let’s continue our work.

3) виконання вправи 2, сторінка 60

T.: Turn over the page, it’s page 60 we are working at now. Let’s check how well you remembered Taras’s letter – you are to look it through again and write out the true sentences. Who wants to read the first sentence and to show us how to do this task?

(One of the SS reads the sentence and corrects it: e.g. SS.: Taras lives in England. No, Taras lives in Ukraine.)

4) рольова гра “I’ve got a letter from my pen friend!”

T.: OK guys you did everything correct and now I want to ask you a question – who likes playing games?

SS raise their hands or say “I do”.

T.: And who likes watching cartoons?

SS give their answers.

T.: Guys, do you remember a cartoon “The three from Prostokvasaheno?” There was a funny episode when a boy was writing a letter to his family and then, when he went outside the cat and the dog finished his letter for him. When his parents got the letter there were very surprised to read about the problems with paws and tails. Let’s watch this episode together to refresh your memory. (The SS watch an episode from the cartoon). And now I want you to play a game called “I’ve got a letter from my pen friend!”I will give a sheet of paper and you are to write a letter to Bill, just the same as Taras did. But you are to write just one sentence and then cover it and pass it to another student. The trick is nobody will know what you’ve written before so in the end I hope it will be very funny. You can write about the weather, the school, the sports, etc. But you have to write and pass the letter very quickly. Is everything clear? Ready, steady, go!

OK, stop now. Who wants to read our letter? You are welcome.

SS read the letter aloud and then the teacher comments on it.

III. Заключна частина.

1) Підсумок уроку

T.: OK guys, that’s almost it for today and I want to ask you a question: did you like our today’s lesson? Was it interesting? What games and activities did you like? What exercises were difficult?

SS give their feedback.

2) Повідомлення домашнього завдання

T.: As for your home task, it will be different according to the mark you want to get at the next lesson. For those of you who want to have 7 points the task is to read Taras’s letter again and to answer the question:

1) Where does Taras go?

2) What are his favourite days?

3) What is his favourite lesson?

4) Why does he like it?

5) What do they like to do at English lessons?

The students that want to have 10 points have to write the same letter about themselves to their pen friend. Take Taras’s letter as an example. And, finally, those of you who want to have 12 points have to write a composition answering such questions:

- How often do you write or get letters?

- How is letter different from an e-mail or SMS?

- Why is it important to write letters?
