FOOD.DINNERTIME

Objectives:

  • to reinforce  the topic-related vocabulary on the topic “Food”;
  • to develop speaking skills through the methods of interactive activity
  • to revise structures I like…, I don’t like…;
  •  to practice skills of listening and comprehension, reading , writing and speaking on the topic;
  • to make children more active in using vocabulary on the topic;
  • to develop ability of working in groups and pairs;
  • to develop students’ cognitive and creative skills.

Equipment and Materials:

Thematic  pictures, word-cards, hand-outs, individual  cards, the  book, the work-book, text  for  listening, computer..

PROCEDURE

І. INTRODUCTION

1.2 GREETING

Good morning, my dear boys and girls. I’m glad to see you today. How are you? I think you are fine. Let’ start our lesson. (To organize the class)

Today we’ll speak about food.

We’ll recollect the words on the topic “Food” , we’ll use the constructions I like/I don’t like and  try to use these constructions in practice. So we’ll speak English, repeat and learn words, work with grammar, play and do a lot of interesting activities.

 

1.4 WARMING-UP

A snowball game For example, the first player says:”egg”. The second player says: “egg, cheese”. The third player says:”egg, cheese, sugar”, etc.The  last player repeats all the words).

The next task is to do phonetic exercises. (The pupils repeat the words on the slide. It helps to learn pronunciation)

 

 

 

 

 

II. THE MAIN PART

VOCABULARY PRACTICE

Now let’s repeat some words  on the topic “Food”. Look at the pictures and name them.

SPEAKING -Do you go to cafes?

-What kind of food can you eat in a cafe?

-Imagine you are in a cafe. What kind of food would you order?Look at the text on the board. What you think it is.(Menu)

-What do these words mean?

Now I want you  to work in pairs. Look at the menu and tell which food you like and don’t like. Slide 5

Do you like meat?        No, I don’t. I like fish.

Do you like carrots?      Yes, I do.
