Lesson Plan
Topic: “Food”
Level PRE-INTERMEDIATE
Aims: 1) to develop skills of using vocabulary of food and names of packaging in speech;
2) to develop speaking skills;
3) to develop memory, logical thinking, critical thinking, creativity, attention;
4) to bring up respectful attitude to other students, tolerance in cooperation.
Equipment: pictures food, board games, list of packaging (containers and amounts), video, laptop, whiteboard.
Procedure.
T: Do you like food? Yes, sure everybody does. Let`s count who knows more words of food. Look at the pictures and name it. We`ll see who is the champion of food words!
Ss. Name the pictures of food and count their score.
II. Main body.
Activity 1: “Healthy\unhealthy” (pair work)
T: Now let`s see if know what food is healthy and unhealthy. You have 1 minute to distribute pictures of food in proper boxes (board game “Food 2”)
T: Time is over let`s check up and see who is the winner.
Activity 2: “Word search” (pair work)
T: Here is a word search game. Find all names of food to name the pictures. You have only 5 min to do it. Let`s see who is the fastest of you! (board game “Food 1”)
Activity 3: “Fruit and Vegetables”(all students work together)
T: Now it will be a real challenge. Come and sit around one table, please. We`ll play a lotto to match fruit and vegetables pictures with the words. Everyone will get some pictures and some cards with words. So be attentive and try to be the first to put all your cards on the table (board game “Fruit and Vegetables”)
Activity 4: song “Do you like spaghetti?”
Activity 5: “Containers and Amounts”
T: You know that different food is packed into different containers. Let`s learn new words for food packaging. Look at the pages and match the packaging type to food, write it down, please.
T: Now let`s play a game in two teams. I name food and you say the type of packaging for it. Let`s see who can score the best.
Activity 6: “Shop Search”(pair work)
T: Now, we all will go to the supermarket opposite our school and search for food in specific packaging. You will get a list of packaging (containers and amounts) to find and write down the food, its brand and price. You will have 15min to complete the task.
T: Explanation of the home assignment (to write down a list of the home fridge contents (food and container\amount of it)
T: Let`s check up the result of our work today and see who has the greatest score. Congratulations!
