The plan of the lesson

Theme: Householding chores.
The aims:
- to improve pupils’ listening, reading and speaking skills;
- to develop pupils’ ability to select necessary words;
- to revise the rules of the Present Simple Tense;
- to teach the pupils to work in groups;
- to induce pupils to have some household duties and help their parents.
Outcomes: By the end of the lesson the learners will be able to :
- name new lexical units: a mess, to take the rubbish out, to do the ironing, to do the washing up, to do the vacuuming, to mop, to do shopping, to tidy up, to make dinner, to get upset.
- use new vocabulary in different activities;
- tell about their household duties, using Present Simple.
Equipment: notebook, interactive board, textbooks, cards.
I. The beginning of the lesson.
- Good morning, pupils. I am glad to see you.
Today at our lesson we’ll repeat the words and word combinations, do some interesting exercises, listen to a funny poem, compose the dialogues and simply we’ll speak about your householding duties. So, I wish you good luck and let’s start our lesson.
II. Repeating the lexics.
The pupils look at the screen, where there are some pictures on this theme and translate them into English (using the slide).
III. Speaking.
The pupils answer the teacher’s questions:
- Have you got a householding duty? What is it?
- Do you like to clean your room? (wash up)?
- Do you help your mother to cook dinner?
- What’s your mother’s (father’s) duty?
- Is your mother the busiest person in doing chores?
- What do you like to do best of all?
IV. Fulfilling of the oral exercise.
- Now, pupils, open your books. Let’s do ex.3 p.54
- You are to finish the sentences.
(The pupils are to complete the sentences according to the text).
V. Speaking. Work in pairs.
a) – Now, pupils, please compose the dialogues about the householding duties.
b) Checking of the home-task.
(The pupils were to compose the dialogues on their own situations about their chores, using the phones).
VI. The educational conversation with pupils on the theme “Householding chores”
-Now, students, I want you to express your opinions about your duties at home. (Ex. 4 p 60)
VII. Comprehension of the poem “When mummy is away”
VIII. Work in groups: pupils got a task to compose the sentences using the cards.
For example:
My brother usually |
feeds the dog and cleans his room. |
IX. Writing: the pupils have a task to write any request to one of the members of the family.
For example: Andrew, please don’t forget to switch off the light in your room.
X. Summary of the lesson and home-task: Ex 8 p 63 - answer the questions.
