І. Підготовка до сприйняття іншомовного мовлення

1. Привітання і повідомлення теми

Good morning, children! There are many different kinds of sport in the world. Everybody knows football and tennis, but some people play some really crazy sports. So today we’ll speak about unusual sport.

2. Уведення в іншомовну атмосферу

There are many provebs and sayings about the sport. Read them and explain their meanings. Do you know any Ukrainian equivalents?

1. The best of the sport is to do the deed and say nothing.
2. Health is better than wealth.
3. In sport and journeys men are known.
4. Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.

1. Reading

 Here are three sports which are becoming very popular. Read the descriptions and see if you can match the name to the sport.

Ultimate  Frisbee                        Chessboxing                        Octopush

1. This is a sport where two teams try to hit a puck across the bottom of a swimming pool into a goal. There are six players playing for each team at a time, as well as four substitutes. To play you need a diving mask, snorkel, cap, stick and puck.
2.  This is a sport played with a flying disc. The object of the game is to score points by passing the disc to the player in the opposition’s end zone. You can’t run with the disc. There are usually seven players on each team. To play you need a disc.
3.  This combines two sports, with eleven alternate rounds. You can win either by hitting your opponent to make him unconscious or to achieve ‘checkmate’. This is an individual sport. You need to be good at both sports to win. You need gloves and a chess board.

Now you’re going to invent a new sport. Work with your partner and combine two or more traditional sports to make your new one. Make sure you include the information below.

Unusual sporting events around the World

1.     Zorbing  is the activity of rolling down a hill inside a giant inflatable ball. It looks like fun, this sport seems to have originated in New Zealand

2. Toe Wrestling, England. The object is to lock big toes and force your opponent's foot to the ground. Not a game for the foot-phobic.
3. Cheese Rolling, England. Every spring, the citizens throw a wheel of cheese down Cooper Hill and chase after it. The winner of the race gets to keep the cheese. Due to the hill's steepness, the wheel can reach speeds up to 70mph, injuring many racers along the way.

4. The Mud Pit Belly Flop:

This is a kind of game where even the spectators get splashed in mud but in fact that is quite the fun. The very annual Summer Redneck Games in East Dublin brings about this game and brings about some of the greatest hubcap discus throws with it.

5.     Bed Racing The sport of Bed Racing has been embraced by the people of the North Yorkshire Town of Knaresborough.The competitors race in teams of five, plus one on the bed. Each team must provide their own bed, decorated in the theme for the year. The bed runs on four wheels, but also need to be able to float. It is the 3km run race.

6.Oil wrestling

Oil wrestling is held around the world. The wrestling is part of a festival. The players are covered in olive oil trying to wrestle the other to the ground – maybe not everyone’s idea of fun.
