“  The International Day for Tolerance educates people about the importance of global tolerance.

Tolerance is willingness to accept behaviour and beliefs that are different from your own, although you might not agree with or approve of them.

In 1996 the UN General Assembly invited member states to observe the International Day for Tolerance on November 16, with activities directed towards both educational establishments and the wider public.

It is a time to learn about respecting and recognizing the rights and beliefs of others, a time of reflection and debate on the negative effects of intolerance. Live discussions and debates take place across the world on this day, focusing on how various forms of injustice, oppression, racism and unfair discrimination have a negative impact on society.

Article 1 - The Meaning of Tolerance Tolerance is respect, acceptance and appreciation of the rich diversity of our world's cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human. It is fostered by knowledge, openness, communication, and freedom of thought, conscience and belief. Tolerance is harmony in difference. It is not only a moral duty, it is also a political and legal requirement. Tolerance, the virtue that makes peace possible, contributes to the replacement of the culture of war by a culture of peace.

Article 6 – International Day for Tolerance In order to generate public awareness, emphasize the dangers of intolerance and react with renewed commitment and action in support of tolerance promotion and education, we solemnly proclaim the16th of November the annual International Day for Tolerance. This day will start in 1996 on the 16th of November every year.

In English the term "tolerance" has three values: stability, endurance, tolerance; tolerance is willingness to be tolerant, forgiving; to allow the existence of different opinions without discrimination;

Toleranz (German) - tolerance for other people's opinions, beliefs and behavior; toleranсіа (Spanish) - the ability to take ideas and opinions different from our own;

In French " tolйrance“ means “ to respect the freedom of the other, his way of thinking, behavior, political and religious views“; tolerance is a belief that others may think and act in a manner different from our own;

In the Ukrainian language "tolerance" means “ the ability to endure, to put up with someone's opinion, be indulgent to the acts of others, gently treat their failures, mistakes"

In Chinese, "be tolerant" means “to allow, reveal about the generosity of others”;

In Arabic "tolerance" is defined as "forbearance, gentleness, compassion, patience, commitment to others“; it means mercy, forgiveness, the ability to accept others the way they are, and the ability to forgive.

Tolerance is friendship. Tolerance is mercy and charity Tolerance is compassion. Tolerance is respect for others. Tolerance is kindness of the soul. Tolerance is patience.
