Мета: сприяти розвитку комунікативних компетентностей учнів, використовуючи для цього необхідний лексико — граматичний матеріал; розвивати вміння ефективно взаємодіяти з іншими, залучати учнів до діалогу культур.

 

Очікуванні результати:

Використовуючи необхідний мовний інвентар до теми “Винахідники та їхні винаходи”, на кінець уроку учні вдосконалюють свої рецептивні, інтеграційні та продуктивні комунікативні види мовленнєвої діяльності:

- розуміти фрази та вирази, що належать до теми “Винахідники та їхні винаходи”;

- розуміти короткі прості тексти, що містять широковживану лексику з даної теми;

- спілкуватися, виконуючи завдання, що вимагають простого і прямого обміну інформацією з даної теми;

- ставити запитання і відповідати на них, обмінюватися інформацією з даної теми

 

Інтегровані змістові лінії:

- уміння обговорювати позитивні та негативні наслідки від певних винаходів;

- уміння співпрацювати з іншими на результат, спілкуючись іноземною мовою;

Хід уроку

1. Introduction

Т:Good morning, students.

How are you today? Are you ready for the lesson?

 

T: Today we’ll sum up our work on the topic “Pure science. Inventors and inventions”.We are going to talk about inventors and inventions and their impact on people's life, advantages and disadvantages. The famous proverb says “Necessity is the mother of invention”. What does it mean?

 

II. Warming up

1. Mind map activity.

T: There are a great number of inventions in the world. All of them are necessary and important for us. Look at the mind map, try to complete everyday inventions.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

T: Well done. As you can see modern inventions can be useful and harmful at the same time.

 

2. Pair Work

Look at the mind map again, think and discuss what are the advantages and disadvantages of these inventions? Divide into pairs. Student A tells us about the advantages. Student B tells us about the disadvantages.

So, who wants to perform your discussion in front of the class?

 

III. Main part

 

1. Checking up hometask

T: And now I would like to check up your hometask. Your hometask was to collect some information about inventors and their inventions and make a report about one of them. Let's listen to some of the students.

 

T: Great presentations. We've got to know a lot of useful information about inventors and their inventions. We have to admire the intelligence and creativity of such great scientists.

 

2. Watching

T: You have already mentioned different inventors and their inventions. Do you know who Stephen Hawking is? What did he discover?

 

T: In this activity you will watch a news video about Stephen Hawking.

 

1) Pre-watching activity

T: But before you watch a video, you read and complete a news story.

 

 

 

2) Watching the video

 

T: While you are watching a video, you will test your knowledge of Stephen Hawking. Choose the correct option to complete the facts about Stephen Hawking.

 

 

 

3) After-watching activity

T: In this activity your task is to put the words in the correct order to make quotes from the video.

3. Reading

T:You've got to know some facts about a modern genius’s life and the reasons why he made his invention. But there are a plenty of other creation which seem funny, a bit ridiculous at the first sight, but nevertheless they are very necessary because the can save lives. 

We are going to read a text called “What are cat's eyes?” Have you got any ideas what “cat's eyes” means?

 

T: Let's read the text.

Now we are going to play a kahoot game. I know you like this sort of activity. So, take your gadgets, look at the screen. You can see your pin, so create your user name. But remember, your time is limited, you've only got 20 seconds for each question. And here we go. Let's start!
