  • Objectives: to revise  and consolidate the ABC (letters and corresponding sounds), words, songs, chants (topics “About Myself”, “School Things”, ”Colours”, “Numbers”, ”Emotions and Feelings”);

students will be able to recognize and  identify the letters of the English ABC and corresponding sounds, to write the capital  and small letters, to revise words, songs, chants (topics “About Myself”, “School Things”, ”Colours”, “Numbers”, ”Emotions and Feelings”).

 Materials : flashcards,  phonics cards, a poster,  audio equipment (a mobile phone, acoustic systems).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Procedure of the Lesson

The song  Hello

Teacher: Good morning, dear teachers and children! I am glad to see you at the ABC party. Today we are going to revise English words, phrases, letters and sounds. And now I would like to introduce our special guest – Mr Alphabeticus!

Mr Alphabeticus: Good morning!

Teacher: Good morning,  Mr  Alphabeticus! How are you?

Mr  Alphabeticus: I’m great. And I have come to see how the children know the ABC.

Teacher: Mr. Alphabeticus is very good at the English аlphabet.  Please, take a place. First let’s get acquainted. Children, I will ask you questions and you will answer.

  •  What is your name?
  • How are you?
  • Where are you from?
  • How old are you?

Teacher: And now Nazar and Marichka, can you come here and show us how to get acquainted in English?

Nazar: Hello!

Marichka: Hello! How are you?

Nazar: I’ m fine, thank you. How are you?

Marichka: I’ m fine too. What is your name?

Nazar: My name is Nazar. What is your name?

Marichka: My name is Marichka. How old are you?

Nazar: I am seven. Where are you from?

Marichka: I am from Ukraine.

Nazar: Goodbye!

Marichka: Goodbye!

Teacher:  Well done. Thank you.

Mr  Alphabeticus: And now let’s check how you know English letters and sounds.

Teacher: Let’s  revise the letters and sounds. I will show you the flash-card, you will say the letter, the sound and the word.

 D [d] duck

E  [e] elephant

 F [f]  fish

Teacher: OK. That’s enough.

Mr Alphabeticus: Very nice, boys and girls!

Teacher: Our children have learnt not only English letters, they have learnt a lot of English words and songs.

Let’s revise the school things and toys.

Teacher:  And now let’s revise some other letters.

Teacher: Well done, dear children.

 

Mr Alphabeticus: I can see that you really know some English words and letters. But do you know any other English words, for example, colours?

Teacher: Yes, of course. Children, let’s revise the colours.

Mr Alphabeticus: You know the colours very well.

Teacher: Thank you, Mr Alphabeticus. Now let’s continue with the ABC.

Teacher:   And now stand up and let’s do a physical warm-up.

Teacher:  And now let’s play the game Clap your hands . I will show you the letter and say the sound. If the sound is correct, you clap your hands. If it is not correct, you keep silent.

Teacher:  Dear children, let’s remind how to say about your emotions and feelings in English.

Teacher: Let’s play the game Pantomime.

First the teacher shows an emotion and children guess it. Then the teacher says the word and the children show the emotion.

Teacher : And now we are going to finish the ABC.

Mr Alphabeticus: Very good, boys and girls. I would like to know if you can write  English letters.

Teacher:  Let’s do some  tasks in writing.  Open your notebooks. I will say the letter, you will come to the blackboard, find the letter, show it and write it.

Teacher: So, dear children, you have learnt the English alphabet. Let’s chant  the ABC.

Mr Alphabeticus: Dear boys and girls, you have learnt the ABC very well. I would like to give you these diplomas. I wish you to be healthy, happy and clever. Be good pupils and study English! Good luck!

Teacher: Thank you, Mr Alphabeticus. Let’s sing the song Goodbye.
