•                 To introduce and activate some key vocabulary;
•                 To practice students’ reading skills;
•                 To practice speaking and giving opinions;
•                 To develop students’ listening and writing skills;
•                 To promote their curiosity.

Equipment: a computer, a multimedia – projector, interective board, an English book, handouts.

Procedure

1. Greetings

•                 Good morning students!
•                 Good morning teacher!
•                 Nice to meet you!
•                 Nice to meet you to!
•                 Take your seats, please.

2. Warming – up (slide №3)

Let’s start our lesson with one short but interesting poem.

Travelling

Don’t cry bitterly and go to Italy.

Don’t miss your chance and go to France.

Take your pen and go to Japan.

Buy some cheese and go to Greece.

But I want to pardon.

And suggest to visit London.

3. Main part

2.               And now read the story and answer the questions. (slide №7, 8)

•                 What are the main parts of London?
•                 What is the City?
•                 What is the West End?
•                 What is the East End?
•                 Where are many outstanding people of Great Britain buried?

3.               London has many sights. (slide №9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16)

Look at them and say what do you know about them?

4.               And now let’s have a rest with our Continental Drift. (slide №17, video file №1)
5.               Look at the video and you will see other cities of Great Britain. (slide №18, video file №2)
6.               London is famous for its parks.  (slide №19, 20, 21, 22, 23)
