І. ПІДГОТОВКА ДО СПРИЙНЯТТЯ  ІНШОМОВНОГО МОВЛЕННЯ

 

  1. Повідомлення теми та мети уроку.

T: Everybody knows that our planet is polluted not only with  nuclear waste but everyone pollutes it him/herself.

What way do the people pollute the environment?

The topic of our lesson is “Waste products.

 

  1. Уведення в іншомовну атмосферу.

Look at the blackboard,  read out loud the following quotations, translate them and say if you agree with these words.

  • “When the last tree is cut down and the last fish killed, the last river poisoned, then you will see that you can not eat money” (Greenpeace message)
  • “Civilization is being poisoned by its own waste products ”. (William Ralph Inge)

T: Now I want you remember Grammar the topics “Preposition”, ”Articles” and “Pronouns”, “Modal Verbs”. Reading the text you should fill the blanks with suitable words.

 

          While-reading activity. Етап власне читання. (Клас поділено на 2 групи)

1 група:

THROW AWAY LESS RUBBISH

Many countries bury and forget millions of tons ______ (1) rubbish every year.

But we don’t have to throw _______  (2) all our waste paper, glass, metal and

plastic. We __________  (3) also burn or recycle a lot of it. Here are three

_______________ (4) to beat the throw-away society. All of them are cleaner and cheaper ____________(5) rubbish.

In Denmark, for example, it’s illegal to sell drinks _________ (6) cans. And it’s

Britain throws away 7 million tones ___________ (20) paper every year. That’s the

In one year, a European family  __________(23) two children throws away 50 kilos of paper (that’s six trees), 60 kilos of metal and 45 kilos of plastic.

The problem is that recycling ______ (24) expensive. But recycling helps fight

the environmental problems. ______ (25) example, recycling saves energy in the

manufacturing process, when a ton of recycled aluminium saves 95 % of the energy needed to make new aluminium — so less C02 is released. Less C02 means cleaner air.

 

Post-reading activities.

  • Think of some interesting ways of recycling each of these:
  1. old newspapers;
  2. old plastic bottles;
  3. a drink can;
  4. an old sweater.

T: Imagine that you are going for a walk with your younger brother. He wants you to buy chips, some juice and biscuits. Explain to him what kind of package it is better to use and also tell him not to throw it on the ground. Explain why, when he asks you questions. Make up a conversation with a partner, using the information below.

Litter at the roadside is ugly. How long it will stay before decaying may be an ugly surprise.
