Topic: Food

Objectives:

• Expand students' vocabulary related to food;
• learn new grammatical structures connected to food (likes/dislikes, have breakfast/lunch, etc.);
• develop speaking and listening skills;
• develop student`s social skills

Materials: student book, flashcards with food, audio recordings, blackboard.

Procedure:

1. Warm-up:

TASK 1

Students ask each other questions about food, then present their answers to the class):

   * What foods do you know?

   * What dishes do you like?

   * What do you eat for breakfast/lunch/dinner?

TASK 2

Students play a "Guess what it is" game. Teacher shows pictures of foods and students name them

Main part

TASK 3

Teacher introduce new vocabulary.

TASK 4

   Teacher asks students to sort foods into categories (fruits, vegetables, dairy products, other). Then students work in pairs. They ask each other what they like- don`t like to eat.

TASK 5

   Students play a "Fastest one wins" game. They name food starting with a specific letter.

TASK 6

 Role-play a "At the restaurant" scenario. One student order food, the other is waiter. Waiter`s task is to create his own menu, too.

Home task: learn new words.
