Тема: “Let’s talk about environmental protection”

Мета:

Навчальна: активізувати новий лексичний матеріал теми; вдосконалювати навички аудіювання, говоріння та читання.

Розвивальна: розвивати логічне мислення, активність, увагу, пам’ять; сприяти формуванню комунікативних навичок і умінь, пізнавального інтересу до даної теми; розвивати вміння розуміти зміст іншомовного тексту, виділяти необхідну інформацію.

Виховна: виховувати культуру спілкування, дбайливе ставлення до природи та її багатств, почуття відповідальності, ввічливості, доброзичливості, а також загальну культуру учнів.

Обладнання: ноутбук, мультимедійна презентація, аудіо запис тексту для аудіювання, підручник, зошит.

Тип уроку: урок засвоєння нових знань.

ХІД УРОКУ

I. Початок уроку.

1. Організаційний момент. Привітання.

T: Good morning pupils. I’m glad to see you. I hope everybody is in a good mood and is ready to start our lesson.

2. Повідомлення теми та мети уроку.

T: Today we are going to learn more about nature, it’s problems and the ways to solve them. By the end of our lesson you should be able:

• to actively use the knowledge of the vocabulary studied on the topic;
•  to use some modal verbs;
• to answer the global question how we can help the environment.

3. Введення учнів в іншомовне середовище.

T: Have a look at the screen:

“If you don’t think about the future, you will not have it”

T: These are the words by John Galsworthy. What do you think about these words? Do you agree with them? Why? Why not?

P1: All these words are closely connected with our planet, the Earth, it seems small and unprotected from those disasters, which we cause ourselves.

P1: Really, we have only one planet to live, so we must take care of it.

P2: If we destroy our planet, we’ll kill ourselves too.

T: Is our planet too dirty nowadays? Is it in danger? I’d like you to answer these questions by the end of the lesson.

II. Основна частина уроку.

1. Подання нових ЛО теми.

Т: Let’s pay attention to this word DANGER. Let’s find the definition to it. I propose you the definition from the Oxford Dictionary “DANGER” is the possibility of something happening that will injure, harm somebody or damage something. Here are some combinations with this word:

IN DANGER OF SOMETHING…

T: For example: Animal species are in danger of extinction…

T: Mind please: in danger-endangered species. These are animals which are living not so much in the world.

T: The next word-combination is OUT OF DANGER. It means that somebody or something has no danger now. Pay attention to this picture: The girl is out of danger now…She is with her father.

T: The next word is ENVIRONMENT. What is it? Look at the picture. The natural world in which people, animals and plants live. It’s our planet. It’s a habitat where you, your parents and me live.

T: The next POLLUTION. If you throw the rubbish wherever you want, you’ll make our streets dirty. So, this is a process. For example: Water pollution is a big problem nowadays.

T: And now if you are before the screen to sound really English, repeat after me, please.

Т: Now your task is to complete the sentences with the words from the box. What do you think of it?

2. Розвиток навичок читання.

Pre-reading activity:

T: Now, have a look at these words.

T: I’d like you to watch some pictures and match them with these words. The first picture is this one. What is it?

T: And now we are going to do reading. Look at first slide or if you have the book by. O. Karpiuk, English 9, open the book at page 147. Before reading the text, pay attention to some highlighted words.

T: The first question in this text is… So, scan the text and find the answer. Say Yes or No

 Post-reading:

T: We are ready to discuss the information and complete the scheme. So, we’ve discussed with you this word “Environment”. What is it? I think it’s water, people, land, animals, plants, air.

T: Name all the words which can be referred to the word …

• water … (river, seas, lake, waterfall)
• people … (man, woman, children)
• land …. (earth and planet)
• plants … (grass, flowers)
• air … (atmosphere)

T: Our environment is a huge system and our responsibility is to protect it.

Relaxation for eyes: Close your eyes, rub your eyes while they are closed, use your palms to apply heat to your eyes. Once more, please.
