Підтема: « Різні види природніх катаклізмів та шляхи їх попередження (“Different Kinds of Natural
Disasters and the Ways of Their Prediction”)
Цілі уроку: 1) практична: активізувати вживання лексики по темі, пригадати основні екологічні проблеми сьогодення, формувати навики говоріння, письма і аудіювання;
2) розвиваюча: розвивати довготривалу і короткотривалу пам'ять, фонематичний
слух, мовну здогадку, комунікативну компетенцію учнів шляхом використання
автентичних матеріалів;
3) виховна: виховувати розуміння актуальності проблеми забруднення навколишнього
середовища, сприяти розвитку бажання зберегти планету та види, які її населяють;
4) освітня: розширити знання учнів про види природніх катаклізмів та визначити
вплив людини на життя планети; вказати на небезпеку забруднення навколишнього середовища та наслідки від забруднення
Обладнання: підручник О.Карп’юк “English 10”, робочий зошит, CD-програвач, комп’ютер,
мультимедійна презентація «Natural Disasters», ілюстрації по темі, тематична пісня «Earth
Song», відео ролики, індивідуальні картки для самостійної роботи.

T: Good morning, dear students! I’m glad to see you today!
How are you today?
Great! I expect you will be hardworking and active at this lesson as usually.

T: To begin with, I’d like you to read the quotation on the сomputer monitor . It’s the motto of our lesson. The words of the great philosopher Mahatma Gandhi are very actual nowadays, аren’t they?
P:Yes, our planet is in a danger. The problem of pollution has become more important today. Using automobiles and other machines made pollution worse. Air, water and soil are necessary for existence of all living things. But polluted air can cause illness, and even death. Polluted water kills fish and other marine life. We must help our planet.

T: You know, that people all over the world are worried about our environment. Many famous people make their contribution to the protection of environment. I suggest you listening to the song and pay attention to the question:

T: The real name of this song is “Earth Song”. It was first sung by M. Jackson on the Earth Day.
T: Earth Day is celebrated on the 22-nd April in more than 175 countries including Ukraine every year to show how much they care about the planet.

T: Remember the names of natural disasters and let’s make a following spider gram

T: Look at the photos and decide what is happening on each one. Refer the words from the spider gram on the blackboard to the photos

T: Look on the computer monitor and name the natural hazards you will see. Then choose the definitions from the Pupil’s Book , Ex.5, р.95-96 to each of them and read to the class.
T: It is clearly that many natural disasters are interrelated. For example, earthquake can cause tsunami and drought that can lead directly to famine. So people should be more careful using the natural wealth.

11—15: You are quite environmentally friendly but there are actions you can take to be more environmentally aware.
Less than 11: You could be characterized as a person who doesn't make an effective and posi¬tive contribution to the environmental protection. You forget that this is the world for you and your future children to live in. Try not to be so indifferent to the world's environment. Learn how to preserve it.
