After graduating from the university, he began practical work on the construction of the Lviv-Pidgaitsa regional railway. After five years of practice, he switched to research and teaching activities at the Higher Polytechnic School in Lvivsince 1911 - became an associate professor at the Department of Geodesy

For many years, Weigel worked as the head of the department of geodesy, and was also elected dean of the faculty of water and road construction (1920-1921), rector (1929-1930) and vice-rector (1930-1931) of the Lviv Polytechnic

After a brief interrogation, Professor Kaspar Weigl was shot about 4 p.m. on the morning of July 4, 1941, on the Vuletsk hills. Weigel was included in the proscription lists of the Polish intelligentsia
