Позакласний захід з англійської мови з учнями 6 класу 

Тема: British tea ceremony

Мета: Розширення кругозору учнів через знайомство з історією походження чаю та особливостями вживання чаю в Англії та Україні і чайним етикетом ; удосконалення навичок аудіювання, розвиток вміння читати з метою добування детальної інформації, розвиток вміння розуміти культурологічний аспект текстів, розвиток уміння перекладати і користуватися словником, вдосконалення лексичних навичок говоріння, розвиток творчих здібностей, виховання шанобливого ставлення до способу життя інших народів, глибшого усвідомлення своєї культури.

Обладнання: фотографії Лондона, чаювання, картки із завданнями, сервіровані столи, костюми.

Хід заходу

1. Вступна частина

1.                    Слово вчителя. T: We all have an unusual party. It is connected with one of English traditions: English Drinking Tea. I want you feel yourself real Englishmen: Queen, king, princes and princesses, duches and dukes, fnd learn more information about this country’s traditions. It’s connected with English tradition to drink tea. Englishmen don’t like only to have tea but also they enjoy to talk, discuss different things while drinking it. Tea is the third meal of the day. It is between 4 or 5 o'clock, the so-called 5 o'clock tea. On the table there is  tea, milk or cream, sugar, bread and butter, cakes and jam.

But we are not going only to drink tea but have a talk about favourite English topics.

Ведучий 1. Good afternoon dear friends! Welcome to our tea party! It's common knowledge that the English are very fond of tea. They like to have a nice cup of tea from 6 to 8 times a day, sometimes even more.

Ведуча 2 .Доброго дня любі друзі! Ми раді вітати вас на нашому заході. Всім відомо, що англійці дуже люблять чай. Вони люблять пити чай від 6 до 8 разів на день, а іноді навіть більше.

Ведучий 1. «It’s easier to imagine England without the Queen than without tea» - says the English joke. English tea party as tradition has not more than ten centuries, and only three and a half century. So, a little history. 1664. Celebrating the marriage of King Charles XI and a Portuguese princess Catherine de Braganza.

Ведуча 2. «Легше уявити Англію без королеви, ніж без чаю» - засвідчує англійський жарт. Англійське чаювання як традиція нараховує не десятки століть, а всього три з половиною.

Ведучий 1- Millions of people in factories and offices look forward to their tea breaks in the morning and afternoon. They are called «11es» and «5 o'clock tea». And what do the English think of tea themselves?

Ведуча 2- Мільйони людей на заводах і в офісах з нетерпінням чекають перерв на чаювання вранці і після обіду. Вони називають їх одинадцятигодинного і п'ятигодинне чаювання. А що англійці самі думають про чай?

Ведучий 1 So, dear English tell us some ideas about tea

Ведуча 2 – Що ж любі англійці, розкажіть нам про чай (Всі учасники кажуть свою думку, ведуча перекладає на англійську мову)

1. The English know how to make tea and what it does for you.

Англійці знають, як заварювати чай, і ефект його дії на кожного.

2.  Seven cups of it make you up in the morning; nine cups will put you to sleep at night.

Сім чашок чаю змусять вас підбадьоритися вранці, дев'ять чашок допоможуть вам заснути ввечері.

3. If you are hot, tea will cool you off, and if you are cold, it will warm you up.

Якщо вам жарко, чай допоможе вам охолодитися, а якщо ви змерзли, він зігріє вас.

4.  If you take it in the middle of the morning, it will stimulate you for further work; if you drink it in the afternoon, it will relax you for further thought. Якщо ви п'єте чай в розпал ранку, він стимулює вас на подальшу роботу; якщо ви п'єте його в середині дня, він сприятиме продовженню роботи.

       Ведуча 1  Each conversation in England starts with the discussion of the weather. For example, “Nice day today!”  It’s well known that Englishmen complain on their weather because it’s very changeable, it’s rainy and foggy.

Ведуча 2 Кожна розмова в Англіїі починаеться з обговорення погоди, наприклад «Якийсь сьогодні чудовий день» Добре відомо що англійці скаржаться на їхню погоду, тому що вона дуже мінлива. Дуже дощова погода та туманно.

1.Виступ вчителя : Every nation has its own customs and traditions. England is a country of old traditions. Today we are going to speak about English tea tradition and drink English tea with delicious cakes, scones and marmalade.

Millions of people in factories and offices look forward to their tea breaks in the morning and afternoon. They are called elevenses and 5 o’clock tea.

Traditional tea time in English is late afternoon, when world-famous 5 o’clock tea is served. Five o’clock tea is a ceremony, a work of art. It is not only about a perfect combination of the tablecloth, the napkins, the flowers, the vases and the tea set, it means a certain way of behaving and talking too. But tea is also drunk in the morning and during the day because the English believe it to be healthy and refreshing.

Учень 2. History of tea drinking. Історія чаювання

 English tea drinking traditions have a long history. Tea was brought to England in the seventeenth century by a Portuguese princess, who married king Charles II of England, and has been popular in the country ever since. When the first clippers began to bring tea to England from China and India, it was very expensive. The reason was that the members of the church called it a “sinful  drink” because it was coming from a non-Christian country. So it was taxed to 119% and therefore tea became a drink for the elite. A drink for the rich, the aristocracy, tea was locked up in the households in enamel containers.

Cream Tea — A simple tea, scones,  marmalade or jam,  lemon .

Afternoon Tea — An afternoon meal including sandwiches, scones, cream, cupcakes, sweets and tea. Known as “low tea” because guests were seated in low armchairs with low side-tables on which to place their cups and saucers.

Royale Tea — A social tea served with champagne at the beginning or sherry at the end of the tea.

High Tea —  High tea consists of meat and potatoes as well as other foods and tea. It was not exclusively a working class meal but was adopted by all social groups. Families with servants often took high tea on Sundays in order to allow the maids and butlers time to go to church and not worry about cooking an evening meal for the family.

Учень 4. Etiquette. Чайний етикет

As the name suggests finger sandwiches should be eaten with your hands, but small delicate sweet morsels require a fork or dessert spoon.

The correct way of stirring tea is to place the spoon at the 6 o’clock position and gently stir the tea towards 12 o’clock without touching the sides of the teacup. Don’t fold the tea back and forth or side to side. After you’ve stirred the tea, place the spoon on the saucer next to the cup.

There are four kinds of tea which are popular all over the world. They are green tea, red tea, yellow tea and black tea. They can be in large and small leaves and in granules. But Englishman most of all prefer black and green tea.

Hot tea is good when it’s cold. But who would drink tea in summer when it’s hot? Iced tea is much better for hot weather. Iced tea is an American invention. It was made in St. Louis, Missouri for the first time in 1904. You’ll be taught how to make iced tea.

Earl Grey is any tea  with bergamot, an oil extracted from the rind of bergamot oranges grown in Calabria, Italy. After that, the varieties are virtually endless, with the addition of other fruits, flowers, and even green or herbal teas

Учень 7. How to make English tea. Як заварювати чай (демонстрація)

Do you know how to cook tea? Listen to the main recipe of making English tea.

1. Fill in the kittle with fresh water and boil it.

2. As soon as the water is hot put a little of it into the tea pot to warm it.

3. Then dry the pot and put in one spoonful of tea for each person and one extra for the pot.

4. Pour the freshly boiled water into the pot.

5. Let the tea infuse for five minutes, then stir

6. Finaly pour some milk and serve

Вчитель пропонує майстерклас виготовлення чайного пакетика власноруч та пакуночка у вигляді чайничка для ньго.

Вчитель: Аt the end of our meeting we shall do a little DIY  , and make small presents for our family or friends.

We shall make Lavender tea from cakes wrappers and pack beautifully as a present.

1. Flafen the cake wrapper
2. Mix one black teaspoon and one lavender teaspoon
3. Then put tea mixture in the center and fold two halves together
4. Fold the open top twice
5. Now stick the rope and a label
