Тема:  Holidays in our life, traditions of celebration.

Мета: -повторити і активізувати лексику теми;повторити назви свят;ознайомити учнів з граматичню структурою минулого неозначеного часу; вживання прийменників on\at з назвами свят;

-формувати навички аудіюванняі письма; удосконалювати техніку читання; розвивати вміння монологічного і діалогічного мовлення, пам»ять;

-виховувати інтерес до вивчення англійської мови та заохочувати до активноі роботи на уроці.

Обладнання: підручник, робочий зошит,картки для самостійноі роботи, аудіо запис пісні “Jingle Bells”.

                                          Хід уроку

І  Підготовка до сприйняття іншомовного мовлення.

1. Greeting.

• Good morning, everybody! I`m glad tj see you. How are you today?

2. Aims.

-During our lesson we`ll speak about holidays and we learn how to use the Past Simple Tense.

-We`ll solve the crossword.

-We`ll write some exercises with Past Simple.

-So, Who doesn`t know the past has no future.

                        English and Ukrainian Holidays in Winter

1. This is the main holiday in the country. It is celebrated on the 25^th of December. Children get the presents, that  Father frost puts in their stockings. ( Christmas in England.)

2. This is an old tradition . It is celebrated on the 14^th of January.People meet the New Year one more time.  (an Old New Year.)

3. It is a religious holiday. It is celebrated on the 7^th of January. On this day the people of the country celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ. ( Christmas in Ukraine.)

4. This holiday is celebrated on the 1st of January.It is a favouite holiday  for Ukrainians, but it is not so popular in England. (a New Year`s Day.)

-Read the text and do the task.

When he was 65, Sidney Prior retired, but he didn`t like it. “ I liked work”, he said. “when I stopped I didn`t have anything to do. I didn`t want to sit at home all day. I wanted to do something ,” So Sidney went back to work.

Yesterday, as usual, he got up at four a. m. and cooked his breakfast. Then he took his bus to the DIY store where he works. At the end of the day, however, he had a party with some of the people at the store, because it was Sidney`s birthday yesterday. He was 90 years old!
