Квест з англійської мови для учнів 6А класу

 

ТЕМА: «The Knowledge Is the Power»

МЕТА: активізувати країнознавчі та мовні навички учнів;

 розвивати навички колективної роботи, логічне мислення, мовленнєву реакцію; навички 21 століття

розширювати кругозір учнів, виховувати інтерес до вивчення англійської мови і культури

Завдання:

Навчальні:

•                                                        підвищувати пізнавальний інтерес учнів до мови через використання ігрових моментів;
•                                                        закріпити уміння використовувати мову під час висловлювання.

Розвиваючі:

•                                                        розвивати увагу та пам’ять;
•                                                        розвивати вміння працювати в команді.

Виховні:

•                                                        виховувати вміння працювати в співпраці з іншими учасниками;
•                                                        виховувати ввічливе ставлення до культури країни, мову якої вивчаємо.

 

ОБЛАДНАННЯ: картки з цифрами, картки зі словами, ноутбук з презентацією, картки для команд, картки для роботи в групах, таблиця для оцінювання учнів.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ПЕРЕБІГ ЗАХОДУ:

 

   Teacher:  Good afternoon, dear guests and participants. You are welcome to our competition. I am glad to see you!  Greet our guests.

Say “Hi!” to your neighbours to the right, to the left and smile.

 

 Today we are having the English party. It will be a competition between the pupils of the 6th form.

   To begin with we must choose the jury. Today our jury is

Warming up.

And now we are going to have a warming up.

 “The ABC game”. Pupils, you’ll get some letters from the English alphabet. You must put the letters in the right order, so as to get the name of the English-speaking country. You have 1 minute at your disposal.

(Картки з буквами : 1. N, A, G, L, N, D, Е. 2. I, C, A, M, A R, E 3.C, A, N, A, D, A)

 

Task 1

Кожній команді даються картки з цифрами. Діти повинні прочитати зашифровані слова по темі « Географія Великобританії » (назва країни і річки) за порядковим номером букв алфавіту. Команда, яка перша впоралась із завданням і все правильно отримує 2 бала.

And now let’s see how well you know English proverbs. Our second contest is called “English Proverbs”. 

You can see the first part of the proverbs and you have to find its tail or ending.

3.                           A friend to all is a friend to none.
4.                           A new broom sweeps clean.
5.                           A sound mind in a sound body.
6.                           All things are difficult before they are easy.

Команди отримують картки. Треба показати вид спорту без слів.

Якщо, власна команда вгадала вид спорту, то отримує - 2 бали;

Якщо, команда конкурентів – 1 бал.

Task 6. «Spy Dictation»

Find the sheet of paper. The spy from your team will read and dictate the sentences to other participants of your group.  Then  write the tense of these sentences.

Ведучий показує прапори країни (презентація на комп’ютері), учасники повинні назвати країну.

Відповідає команда, яка перша підняла картку. Правильна відповідь - 1 бал. Якщо команда відповідає неправильно, право відповіді  має друга команда.

Teacher:

Our next task is called “A mysterious balloon”.

Now I’ll explain the rules of the task. There are balloons on the blackboard. There is a task in each balloon. You have to burst the balloon, read the question and answer it. The questions are easy and difficult at the same time, because they are riddles. So be attentive, please. Every correct answer will earn the team 1 point.

1.                           What lies between England and France? The answer is not connected with the geography of these two countries. (and)
2.                           What is in a country, in a capital, in a city, but not in a town? (the letter “c”)
3.                           This verb helps you to form the question in the Past Simple Tense. (the verb “did”)

6.                           These verbs help you to form the question in the Present Simple Tense. (the verb “do, does”)

Task 10. London sights.

Тексти на столах учнів. Читають та визначають відомі місця Лондону. Одна відповідь-1 бал.

Our last contest is called “Guess the place”. On your desks you can see one of the famous places in London. I’ll read you the description and your task is to guess the name of the place. Then find the picture and show to the jury.

1.         There are many old and new beautiful parks in London; this park is the largest one, it is one of the most popular places of Londoners during hot summer days.  (Hyde park)

 

2.  It’s a wonderful building. The Queen Victoria memorial is situated in front of it, it takes you ten minutes to get from this building to Trafalgar Square, which is in the centre of London. The Queen of Great Britain lives there (Buckingham Palace)

 

3.  It used to be a fortress, a prison, a King’s Zoo. Now it is a museum. You can see a lot of interesting things in the hall of this museum. William the Conqueror built it in the eleventh century. Twelve black ravens live in it. People believe that London will be rich while the ravens live there. (The Tower of  London )

 

4. It’s one of the greatest English Churches. It’s not far from the Tower of London. The famous architect Sir. Christopher Wren built it in the 17^th century after the Great Fire of London. It’s a fine building with many columns and towers. There is one of the world’s largest bells in one of the towers. (St. Paul’s Cathedral (interior))

 

5.  It’s more than nine hundred years old. There are many monuments and statues there. Many English Kings and Queens are buried there. It’s famous for the Poet’s Corner. It is one of the most famous and beautiful churches in London. This Church has two tall towers.  (Westminster Abby (at night))

 

6. It is a long grey building with towers. The large clock in one of the towers is known as “Big Ben”. You can hear the sound of Big Ben every hour in London. The clock and the bell got their names after Sir. Benjamin Hall. The members of the British Parliament work in this building. (Westminster Palace)

 

7. IT is the official residence of the Queen. IT has 775 rooms. These include 19 State rooms, 52 Royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms. A flag always flies above IT.When The Queen is in residence, the Royal Standard flies. When the Queen is not present, the Union Flag flies instead. (Buckingham Palace)
8. IT is a bridge over the River Thames. IT is close to the Tower of London which gives it its name. (Tower Bridge)
9. IT is her majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress.IT is a historic castle. IT is situated on the north bank of the river Thames. (Tower of London)
10. IT is the nickname for the great bell of the clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London. The name may be referred to Sir Benjamin Hall who was responsible for ordering the bell.(Big Ben)
11. ITis a tourist attraction, and one of the most famous squares in the UK and the world. At its centre is Nelson’s Column’s, which is guarded by four lion statues at its base. The square is also used as a location for political demonstrations and community gatherings. (Trafalgar Square)
12. IT is the seat of the two parliamentary houses of the United Kingdom, was built in 1870. IT is located inside the Palace of Westminster, are open to both the UK public and overseas visitors. (The Houses of Parliament)
