“You know and love English,don’t you?”

( 7 клас,тема “ The UK “ )

Мета: учні повинні вміти висловлюватись по темах Об,єднань Королівство,погода із використанням пасивного стану,розвивати вміння декламування віршів та роботі в команді.

Обладнання:роздаточний матеріал (речення для питань,для пасивного стану), фото для опису погоди, фото відомих людей і місць,слова для рими.

Introduction

Teacher: Today our lesson will be untraditional as we have 2 teams of 7 pupils each and our aim is to show your knowledge on the topic “The UK” demonstrating your skills in poetry,grammar and history and traditions of the UK.

The conditions of the conquest: you’ll have 9 rounds and for each round you’ll have 5 marks. At the end the team-winner will get a Certificate of Honour. Our jury consists of 3 persons: the head- the teacher of English and members-2 pupils of the 11^th form.

Round 1: Introduction of the teams according to the scheme:

Round 2 : Poetry (teams recite poems in English)

Round 3 : Let’s rhyme :

-I (cry,why, bye, buy…..)

-day ( May,say,OK,play,stay….)

-read ( seed,meet,greet, beat …..)

-write ( bite, white, sight, slide ….)

Round 4 : Grammar (make as many questions to the sentences as possible :

1.London’s more than 2 thousand years old.

2. You can visit Westminster Abbey.

3. London was called Londinium by the Romans.

4. Pete visited Scotland last summer/

Round 5 : Guess: what is it? Who is it? ( Pupils are shown photos of famous people and places of the UK )

Round 6 : Now let’s play the weakest chain : you name the word beginning with the last letter of the previous one, as London, Newcastle,Edinburgh ……

Round 7 : As you remember the most favourite topic of Englishmen is weather, so we’ll also talk about weather describing chosen by captains pictures with different weather.

Round 8 : Grammar : Change sentences into Passive Voice :

1.She is reading a book.

2.He has written a test.

3.Ann’ll answer this question.

4.He is writing an essay.

5.She’ll win the game.

6.We have done our work/

Round 9 : Raise your hand if you know the answer to the following questions:

1.Give the full name of the UK.

4.What’s the currency?

5.Who is the head of the state and what’s his/her surname?

6.What’s the highest mountain and where is it,what’s the height?

7.What is the longest river?

10.What do you know about British Parliament?
