Topic:  How beautiful is love!

Aims:  to develop interest in learning English, to promote the using of English in after-school hours, to contribute to the education of the senses, to develop the creative skills of students and  their ability to work in a team.

The leaders of boys’ and girls’ teams come to the stage.

B: Hello everybody!

G: Good afternoon dear friends! Today we have funny entertaining show “Who is on top”

B: It will be exciting and interesting competition. You will see who wins. I believe boys will be winners.

G: Nothing like this! Girls are the best.

B: OK. We will see. And now it’s time to invite our teams to the stage!

Jingle, clapping

The leaders introduce the participants of the boys’ and girls’ teams.

Vova is a strong fast football player. No one can stop him doing sports.

Serhii has golden hands. Painting and decorating are his passion.

 Roma is a quiet and reasonable guy. He is very handsome.

And me, Stas, an intelligent and extraordinary person, the captain of boys’ team.

 

Our Alina is full of energy. She is fast and optimistic.

Tania is helpful, friendly and brave. And, of course, she is so quick-witted.

Kristi is pretty. She can dance and sing wonderfully.

And me, one more Alina, the front girl of the team. I’m sure we will win our contest.

 

B: Lady Justice, we want to hear you.

Lady Justice: I’m glad to see you here. You are all very nice. But let the best team win. Dear spectators, support the players with applause.

Some words about rules. We’ll have seven rounds and that is why seven tasks. The team which does the tasks more quickly and correctly will be a winner of the round.

At the end of the seventh round we’ll summarize the results and determine the winner of the game.

By the way, the topic of our competition is “How beautiful is love!”

Round 1

 Let’s start the 1^st round.

Love is the most important and beautiful feeling. Everyone wants to find their soul mate. And no one wants to be alone. We know a lot of loving couples from books and movies. 

So the 1^st task is to find the famous halves.

Participants do the task together in teams. Then one member per group presents the pairs one by one.

Round 2

There are many proverbs about love in the people. And, of course, there are their Ukrainian equivalents.  In the 2^nd round you have to match English and Ukrainian paraphrases and present them to the public.

Round 3

 Everything starts with little children. Of course, guys are different from girls. They are made of another material.

Your task is to write for two minutes as many words as you can that mean things from which boys and girls are made.

Round 4

Years pass and little girls become pretty ladies and boys turn into handsome men.

The task for girls’ team is to describe with five sentences the appearance of a man in the photo.

Guys have to prepare five sentences about lady you can see in the picture.

Round 5

There many ways to say I LOVE YOU in English. I suggest you preparing as many phrases as you can to express love with words and after that presenting them to the viewers.

Round 6

Emotions are an integral part of feelings. Sometimes we don’t need words to express what we feel. There are lots of signs by which we show our emotions. You know them very well because of using in social networks.

So your task is to paint as many different emoticons as possible and sign them while the song “Don’t worry, be happy” is playing. 

 

Round 7

Very often people use neither words no sights to express their emotions. They just look into each other's eyes. And everything becomes clear and understandable.

Our last round is called “Amazing look”. Participants have to stand face each other in pairs with the members of opposite team and   look into partner’s eyes without blinking.  Who can no longer do this leaves the game. Player who looks the longest time brings victory to the team.

 

Summarizing 

Our competition was great! Both teams deserve victory. But the game is a game and there is only one winner in it.

Spectators, let us congratulate the winners with applause.
