"Ukraine is my Motherland"

Мета: розширити й поглибити знання учнів про рідну країну англійською мовою; мотивувати учнів до вивчення іноземної мови; активізувати країнознавчі знання й мовні уміння; розвивати навички до колективної роботи, логічного мислення; виховувати почуття любові до рідної землі та пісні; гордості за свою країну;

Обладнання: зал, прикрашений національними символами, картою України, повітряними кульками національних кольорів; ноутбук, проектор, презентація.

If there is light in the soul,

Ведучий : Good morning, dear friends. We’re glad to see you at our party.

 

Ведучий:We live in Ukraine and I hope you love your native land and you are patriots of your Motherland. It doesn’t matter to what country we travel, what exciting and interesting places we see there – our Motherland, the place where you were born and live is the best for you and sooner or later you come back  here.

The land of wonders,

Of autumn rains

And summer thunders.

The greenest hills

And magic lakes,

The tender breeze,

Romantic dales.

Amazing land –

My dear Ukraine.

 

Ведучий: Ukraine! Ukraine, Motherland and Homeland are some sacred words for everyone. These words are full of deep meaning for all of us. And now, let’s perform The National Anthem of Ukraine.

Glorious spirit of Ukraine shines and lives forever
Blessed by Fortune brotherhood will stand up together
Like the dew before the sun enemies will fade
We will further rule and prosper in our promised land
 

We will lay our soul and body for the cherished freedom

For the liberty the folk strives ardently from San to Don
And will let no alien power in our common home
Aged Dnieper and Black Sea arm in arm rejoice

With FREEDOM – such a lovely word.

Bread–salt will give to a friendly guest

Ukrainian people without request.

They work and sing the song of praise

To God who’s able from ash to raise.

Ukraine rejoices in the Lord

Reviving from His mighty Word.

Forever lives who’s born again

Long live and pray, my land Ukraine!

Ведучий: But today we are writing a new tragic page in the history of our country. A lot of sons, fathers, husbands give their life fighting for freedom and democracy and against corruption and authoritarian government. They don’t want Russia rule in our native land. The Revolution of Dignity will stay in our hearts forever.

Ведучий:Today we honor all sons and daughters of Ukraine whose dream to see our Motherland independent, prosperous and happy has been cherished for centuries. The history of Ukraine was written in red and black colors, it has plenty of exciting and glorious pages alongside with tragic and bloody ones. So let’s honor all the late true sons with a moment of silence.

 “A Ukrainian girl”

Many enemies captured me,

Murdered, killed, didn’t let me free,

But their efforts were in vain,

I regenerated all the same.

I was born in Ukraine.

People say I am like a flower,

That my words have magic power,

That my soul sings,

Like a nightingale,

From Ukraine,

I am a proud girl.

 

Ведучий: Everything is beautiful about Ukraine. Its forests and parks, rivers and streams, lakes and seas, meadows and valleys, hills and mountains, steppes and grasslands are beautiful in their own way.

Ведучий: Today we can’t but remember our famous countryman Volodymyr Sosiura and his famous poem “Love Ukraine”.

Love Ukraine, love it like the sun;

Like the wind, and grass and water …

In the hour of happiness and in time of joy,

Love it in the hour of misfortune.

Your cherry-like Ukraine.

Its beauty, eternally live and new,

And its tongue like that of the nightingale.

Like a flourishing orchard

And with all your deeds.

Like a song that sails with the star …

With all your heart love your Ukraine,

Ведучий: Speaking about Ukraine we must mention the greatest genius of the Ukrainian Nation – Taras Shevchenko and his best poems.

«Мені тринадцятий минало…»

The poem ‘I Was Thirteen’

I was thirteen

I was thirteen. I herded lambs

 Beyond the village on the lea.

 The magic of the sun, perhaps,

 Or what was it affected me?

 I felt with joy all overcome,

 As though with God….

 The time for lunch had long passed by,

 And still among the weeds I lay

 And prayed to God…. I know not why

 It was so pleasant then to pray

 For me, an orphan peasant boy,

 Or why such bliss so filled me there?

 The sky seemed bright, the village fair,

 The very lambs seemed to rejoice!

 The sun’s rays warmed but did not sear!

 But not for long the sun stayed kind,

 Not long in bliss I prayed….

 It turned into a ball of fire

 And set the world ablaze.

«Заповіт»

«The Testament»

When I am dead, then bury me

In my beloved Ukraine,

My tomb upon a grave mound high

Amid the splendid plain.

So that the fields, the boundless steppes,

The Dnieper’s plunging shore

My eyes could see, my ears could hear

The mighty river roar.

When from Ukraine the Dnieper bears

Into the deep blue sea

The blood of foes…then will I leave

These hills and fertile fields –

I’ll leave them all and fly away

To the abode of God,аnd then I’ll pray…

But till that day I nothing know of God.

Oh bury me, then rise ye up

And break your heave chains,

And water with the tyrants’ blood

The freedom you have gained.

And in the great new family,

The family of free,

With a softy spoken, kindly words

Remember also me.

 

Ведучий: Love of Motherland comes to people in different ways. For some people their Motherland begins in a city. For others it is their own village or a house in which they have grown up, and of course their fathers and mothers….

 

Ведучий : Mother is the dearest person in our life. Our mothers teach us to be kind, tender, clever, open- hearted and  loving.

Love Ukraine when the days are happy,

Ukraine is our Motherland.

 

Ведучий: Our great party is ending.  We all hope and  trust that in the near future our Ukraine will be a free, independent and successful country .

When down the Dnieper I go boating
