From Friends to Enemies
A man and his wife owned a shop. They had a golden ring. It was lucky, but they didn’t know. They sold it and they became poor. Soon it was winter, and there was no re wood. They had a loyal cat and a dog.
“It’s so cold,” said the dog. “Look at all the snow,” said the cat.
“We need to help save the shop,” said the dog.
They had a clever plan. First, the dog swam across a river and the cat stood on his back. Then, the cat caught a mouse. It went inside the house and chewed through a wooden box where the ring was. The mouse gave the ring to the cat.
“Now we can move to the beach,” said the dog.
“Somewhere with warm weather away from water,” said the cat. They went back home, but the cat was faster, since it could climb.
When they saw the cat with the ring: “Oh, thank you! You brought the ring. You are a star!” When the dog came back, they shouted at the dog: “Why didn’t you help get the ring silly dog?”
From that day the cat and the dog were enemies.
