Teacher. Today we are going to speak about cooking, healthy and junk food.

Now let’s learn a new proverb “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. This proverb says if you eat only one apple every day you needn’t a doctor. We know that fruit is very useful for us. Remember this proverb and keep it. (slide 25)

Junk food
One of the most important tasks is the task of bringing up a healthy generation. The problem is that children are (1). If children weigh too much they are less productive and have problems with their health.
Junk food makes people overweight. Chips, sweets chocolate, sweets and sugary snacks are called (2). Junk food isn’t healthy for people. Most junk food contains (3).
But teenagers and children like eating junk food. So they can become overweight or (4).
In order to help our children to become healthier we have to talk to them (5) and to persuade them to exercise more and not to eat so much junk food.
Exercise helps keep our weight down. The following chart shows how many calories we use when doing different forms of exercise for one hour.

T: As you see, you like not only healthy food but unhealthy one either. You know that fast food is very unhealthy. People become fat. They have many problems with their health: headache, toothache, stomachache.

Good Food for Good Life
We need good food for good life. Good food has a lot of vitamins, proteins (белки) and minerals. They are in vegetables, fruits, bread, milk, meat, fish and porridge. These things help to make your bones and teeth strong. They make your body strong and healthy. It’s important to eat enough – not too much and not too little. Too much food makes you fat. Too little food makes you weak.

One of the best ways to be healthy and keep our energy is to eat small snacks frequently. We should also drink at least five glasses of water every day. Vitamin C is very important for us too. So we have to eat fresh fruit, vegetables and berries because they are rich in vitamin C.
When you have a headache cherries will help you. If you want to avoid getting colds and flu, lemons, oranges, carrots, broccoli will help you because they are rich in vitamin C.
If you suffer of indigestion, eat raw cabbage and broccoli.
If you eat fish, brown rice you will not suffer from tiredness or lack of energy.
We can improve our health but we should eat the right kinds of foods.

Greek salad
1. You should take two tomatoes, three cucumbers, a tin of olives and some cheese.
2. First, cut the tomatoes and cucumbers into pieces.
3.Second, open the tin of olives.
4. Put all the vegetables and olives in a large bowl.
5. Cut the cheese into large cubes and put it into the bowl, too.
6. Last, add some salt, pepper, vinegar and olive oil.
7. Enjoy your meal!

Best of all I like healthy food. Firstly I take some vegetables, wash them and cut. Then we have to put some salt and pepper. After that I add a little oil and mix. It’s a very tasty dish. What is it? (Salad)
My taste is alike to yours. We can buy this food easily in the shop. But you can cook it yourself. We have to wash and peel potatoes. Then we slice them and fry every piece into the pan with a lot of oil. Take out red- yellow snacks and air. What is it? (Chips)
Everyone has eaten my dish. Your and my mum prepare it. She takes meat, boils it. After that she puts peeling vegetables. Mum adds some salt, pepper. At the end she puts some sour- cream. It is delicious red- coloured dish. What is it? (Borsch)
It is Ukrainian dish. I help my mum to do it. Firstly we boil leaves of cabbage and rice. We have to grind carrot and cut some onion. Frying we mix them with rice and meat. Put salt, pepper. Then we put this mass into the cabbage leaf and boil 1 hour with tomato pasta. We eat this dish with sour- cream. What is it? (Holubtsi)

Teacher.There is a good proverb that I like very much: “We eat to live, but do not live to eat.” I think this is true because food is something that we need to stay alive. Food is a source of energy. So, for some people food is a source of pleasure, too. But the food that we eat should also be healthy. (slide 30-31)
III.Summing-up. It’s a pity but our time is over. You have worked hard. I think, you have understood the importance of the right food for the health of people. And I want to remember a proverb.
