Хід уроку

  1. Організаційний момент.

T: Good morning! Nice to see you! Happy to meet you! How are you today? (I’m so-so. I’m OK. I’m happy.)

  1. Warming up.

T: What does it mean to be happy? What do you think?

 

 

 

 

 

T: What is the most impotant thing which makes people happy? What’s your opinion?

P: Health

T: Health is above wealth. What does it mean to be healthy? Some people think it just means not to be sick. But being healthy means…

Please, watch a video fragment and say.  (“Let’s say “Hello””)

P1: It also means to have positive attitudes and feelings.

P2: It means having energy to rest and work. Let’s say “Hallo!” to each other and wish sth good

(I wish you to have good marks.)

T: So, guys, today we are going to speak about  our health.  We’ll speak about the doctor’s recommendations in case we are ill. We’ll discuss the ways to stay healthy.

  1. Main part.
  1. Practicing vocabulary.

T: So, let’s start with our jazz-chant.

“Your cold is getting worse”

T: What do you think we learn this chant for?

  1. Matching.

T: There are a lot of proverbs about health and healthy lifestyle. There are some of them on the board. You have to find the beginning and the end of each proverb. (Handout 1)

T: Now I want you to explain them.

  1. T: Guys, today we have a guest, a reporter from a famous British TV-programme “Health”. He would like you to answer some of his questions.

R: Hello, friends! I’m Mr. Brown. I’m a reporter. May I ask you some questions?

  • What do you usually do when you fall ill?
  • When do we think about our health?
  • You look extremely healthy. Do you think you are a healthy person?
  • How often do you brush your teeth?
  • How often do you visit a dentist?
  • Do you like to visit doctors?

R: Thank you very mach. Don’t forget to watch our programme.

  1. T: I see that you don’t like doctors. But sometimes it is necessary to visit them. Today we’ll go to the British hospital. First ‚we should revise our vocabulary on the topic. Look at our skeleton. Come to the board‚ name and write the parts of the body. (Handout 2)
  2. T: There are a lot of body idioms.  Which of them do you remember? Say and make up your own sentences. (Handout 3)

T: I see that you are tired. Let’s have a rest and remember a wonderful  English song “Hokey Pokey”

  1. T: I see you’re well. And it’s great. Remember, physical activity helps us live long and healthy. But sometimes we have problems with our health. What do we usually feel? The next task is called “Back to the board”. You have to convey the meaning of each symptom by acting or miming. Your classmates have to guess. I’ll stick a problem on the blackboard. (Handout 4)
  2. T: Look at the tables on your tables on your desks and
  1. match the problems to their symptoms (Handout 5)
  2. use your tables to talk about health problems, as in the example.

If you have … then you’ve probably got … .

 

  1. which of these problems have you experienced?
  2. What medical problems could you suffer…

… if you don’t get enough sleep;

… if you get wet on a cold day;

… if you’ve got an allergy to pollen from grass.

  1. T: Look around. There are many stripes on the walls. Find them and match the parts of the colloquial  phrases. (Handout 6)
  2. T: We’ve just spoken about problems. But we haven’t spoken about people who can help us with them. Of course, they are doctors.

Your task is to guess what medical speciality I will describe.

A doctor:

  • who specialized in skin diseases;
  • who specialized in heart diseases;
  • who helps children be born;
  • whose work in filling, cleaning, taking out teeth;
  • who performs medical operations;
  • a specialist in diseases of the eye;
  • who deals with children with children and their illnesses.
  1. T: Very good! And now it’s time to visit the real British hospital. Now we are going to watch a video fragment.

Look at these pictures. What do you think the main idea of the fragment will be? (Handout 7)

Answer the questions.

  • What is Mr. Lewis’ problem?
  • How often does he swim?
  • What does the doctor prescribe?
  • What advice is Mr. Lewis given?
  • What Doctor Norton’s problem?
  • Why can Mr. Lewis help Dr. Norton?
  1. We’ve just visited the real British hospital. And if I’m not mistaken one of your hometasks was to imagine yourselves doctors and make up your own dialogues. “At the Doctor’s” and act them.
  2. Speaking.

Now doctors be ready to give us some advice what should we do:

  • if we have  flu;
  • an earache;
  • to have a toothache;
  • if we have broken arm or leg;
  • if we have a backache.
