Procedure of the Lesson
1. Greetings
-Good morning students and welcome dear teachers!
I hope you are all in good spirits and ready to work hard today.
2. THE ORGANIZATION OF THE LESSON
- Students, you will work in groups today. So, I’d like you to split up into groups of four. We will have three groups: Group A, Group B and Group C.
Look at the whiteboard, there are ground rules for group work, please pay attention to them while working together.
3. DEFINING THE AIMS OF THE lesson
Today we are going to learn about healthy eating, we will discuss tips for healthy eating habits, we will read about the importance of reading food labels on the packaged products and we will watch a video about of fibre foods in our daily diet. Also, we are going to do some project work.
Although, we are going to work in groups today, I will evaluate every student individually at the end of the lesson. So, please be active in group discussions and project work.
We will start with vocabulary warm-up.
4. Vocabulary warm-up
-Students, please, look at the whiteboard and think which of these food products are beneficial to our body and which are not. What made you think so? Prove your point.
-Your next task will be to find the hidden sentences by scanning QR codes and then discuss them in groups. Think about your own tips for building up healthy eating habits.
-Do you and your group agree or disagree with these ideas or are you unsure? For what reasons?
Task 1: Children, let’s match the words to the definitions
Task 2: You have to put the paragraphs of the text into the correct order and then think about the title. What type of text is that?
Task 3: Children, now you have to think about the answers to these questions:
Task 4: Look at the Nutrition Facts and write the answers on the worksheets (Worksheet 1-CLB).
Task 1: Think about the answer to the questions while watching the video ‘Kids and Fiber’:
Task 2: Complete the text with the words below. (Worksheet 2)
Task: Children, now you are going to do projects:
Group A are into healthy eating habits. You have to make a healthy food pyramid. Prove your point.
Group B you are into junk food. Your task is to make an unhealthy food pyramid. Persuade your opponents.
Group C you are into healthy eating while exercising. You have to make a healthy food pyramid. Prove your point. Use the information you’ve heard and read to be convincing. Make some notes to be prepared.
III. Conclusion
-Now, let’s reflect on our lesson by answering these questions:
-All of you did a great job today. Some students were more active than others, though. (Natalia, Ira, Nastia, Nazar, Kolia) you will receive excellent marks.
Task: Use the Internet to find information on healthy eating. Use the information to make a suitable daily diet plan for yourself. Present it to the class.
I do hope you will use information from today’s lesson and apply it to your life. If you want to be healthy you should have good eating habits. Proper nutrition protects us from infections and helps to be beautiful. As the saying goes: ‘We can’t control everything in our lives, but we can control what we put in our body’
