Мета ( Aims):

Навчальна: активізувати учнів до вивчення лексичного матеріалу, практикувати учнів у читанні тексту з вилученням основної інформації, сформувати в учнів уявлення про моду.

Розвивальна: розвивати навички монологічного та діалогічного мовлення, комунікабельність, вміння висловлювати своє ставлення до теми; критичне мислення та творчі здібності в учнів

Освітня: формувати культуру спілкування, ініціативність та активність, практичні навички спілкування, почуття власного стилю.

Тип уроку: урок засвоєння нових знань

Забезпечення уроку: мультимедійне обладнання (проектор, екран), презентації, роздатковий матеріал

Між предметні зв’язки: історія, художня культура, інформаційні технології.

І. Організаційний момент

T: Hello students. I’m very glad to see you. Can you tell me who is on duty today? Who is absent today?

S: Good afternoon. I am on duty today. … are absent today

T: Ok, thank you. Let’s start our lesson

ІІ. Активізація опорних знань учнів

1. Warming up:

T: Look at the screen and watch the video (учні переглядають відео “Fashion week”). How do you think what is the topic of our today’s lesson?

S: The topic of our lesson is “Fashion”

T: Can you tell me something about fashion designers? What fashion labels do you know?

S1: There are a lot of fashion designers such as Donatella Versace (top celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Madonna have endorsed the company’s collection of clothes, accessories, fragrances and home furnishings)

S2:  Calvin Klein (born in 1942 in NEW YORK, Klein also capitalized on his own charisma and lean good looks)

S3: Andre Tan (Ukrainian fashion designer is the owner of many prizes and Grand Prix, one of which he received at the festival “Kiev Podium” from the Paco Rabanne. In addition, André was brought to the Guinness Book of Records of Ukraine as the youngest and most promising designer of the country)

T: Okay and what about fashion labels?

S1: I like Prada

S2: I know Armani

S3: D&G (Dolce and Gabbana), Gucci and many others

T: So, as you guess the topic of our lesson is “ Fashion. Clothing Style”, open your copy-books and write the date, class work and the theme of our lesson.

The aims of the lesson are to activate your lexical  material, to practice in reading, in monologue and dialogue speaking, to develop your creativity and practical communicative skills and also to develop your own fashion styles.

T: Translate the sayings of the most famous fashion gurus

Stefano Gabbana “Fashion is all a game, with new rules every season”

S1: Мода – це гра з новими правилами кожного сезону

Yves Saint Lauren “Fashion come and go, style is forever”

S2: Мода приходить і йде, а стиль залишається

Gianni Versace “Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live”

S3: Не будь в тренді. Не підкоряйся моді, вирішуй сам, ким ти є, що ти хочеш донести іншим , вдягаючись та живучи як вважаєш за потрібне

IV. Сприйняття та усвідомлення навчального матеріалу

Speaking

T: Can you tell me what is the capital of world fashion?

S1 It’s Paris

S2 No, I know that Milan is the capital of fashion

S3 And I know that it is London

T: Yes, you are right. Some designers like Milan and New York others like London or Paris. But Paris is known as the world fashion capital. Do you know why?

S1: Because there are a lot of fashion boutiques

T: Paris is known as the capital of fashion because a long time ago there were the first “Fashion Houses”. But now as you know the “Fashion weeks” are held in London, New York and other cities.

T: What means a “Fashion week”

S: A fashion week is a fashion industry event, lasting approximately one week, wherein fashion designers, brands or "houses" display their latest collections in runway fashion shows to buyers and the media.

T: Look at the screen. Can you translate these words and word-combinations.

T: Okay, you are great but there a lot of unknown words and word – combination. So open your vocabularies and write the unknown words on your vocabularies. Thank you.

T: And now can you tell me what clothing styles do you know and usually wear?

S1: There are a lot of clothing styles. For example, business style, city style

S2: My favorite clothing style is casual style, because it is very comfortable.

S3: And I like a disco style, it’s very funny style

T: What is the business style? Country (Western) style? Casual style?...

S1 Business style: Women should wear a combination of a skirt or dress slacks, blouse, sweater, twinset, jacket (optional), and hosiery (optional) with closed toe shoes. Sandals or peep-toe shoes may be permissible in some offices but save flip-flops for the weekend

For men, appropriate business casual attire is dress slacks or chinos, a button-down shirt, dark socks, and dress shoes. Avoid wearing polo shirts to an interview, even if they are acceptable for the job in question. Do not wear jeans or shorts

S2 Country (Western) style: is a category of men's and women's clothing which derives its unique style from the clothes worn in the 19th-century Wild West. It ranges from accurate historical reproductions of pioneer, mountain man, Civil War, cowboy and vaquero clothing to the stylized garments popularized by singing cowboys such as Gene Autry and Roy Rogers in the 1940s and 1950s. Western wear can be very informal, with a t-shirtand blue jeans forming a basic ensemble, or it may consist of tailored formal garments with western accents. At minimum, western wear generally incorporates a cowboy hat, a leather belt, and cowboy boots.

S3: Casual style: In the European tradition, casual is the dress code that emphasizes comfort and personal expression over presentation, formality and conformity. More simply, "casual" can be defined as something relaxed, occasional, not planned, or informal.

S4: Oversized style:  distinct from plus-sized fashion, consists of clothing and other accessories that are larger than normal and reflect some sort of attitude, message, or trend of the period at hand.

T: Ok. Look at the screen. Your task is to guess a clothing style.

Reading

T: Read and translate the texts about the most famous fashion designers

T: And you have a short “True - false” tests, you have 5 minutes to do it.

After that you have to exchange your copy-books with each other and check your neighbor’s work. “+” – right answer, “-“ – wrong answer and you have to write a mark in their copy-books.

Project work

T: At home you had to prepare some project works (presentations) about our Ukrainian fashion designers. Are you ready? Who wants to start?

T: And now you have to do ex 1, p 4 (Solutions 2^nd edition. Intermediate workbook). You have to complete the mindmap with words in the box.
