Topic: Food. Drinks.

Objectives:

Practical

- to summarize and systematize pupils’ knowledge on the topic;

- to develop listening, reading, speaking, writing skills;

- to develop the pupils’ pair and group communicative skills;

- to practice pupils’ project work.

Educational

-to widen the pupils’ outlook;

-to bring up the pupils as hard-working persons.

Developing

-to develop memory;

-to develop attention, quick reaction, interests, artistic abilities.

Type: a summarizing and systematizing lesson.

Equipment: pictures on the topic “Food”, a multimedia board, a proverb, projects, copies of the text, computers, worksheets.

 

Procedure

  1.  Introducing the topic and the aim of the lesson.

Teacher: Good afternoon, dear children!

Pupils: Good afternoon, dear teacher!

Teacher: I’m glad to see you.

Pupils: We’re glad to see you, too.

Teacher: Are you ready to start our lesson?

Pupils: Of course, we are.

Teacher: If it is so, let’s start.

As you know, we have studied a very interesting and popular topic. It is “Food and drinks”. We can’t imagine our life without food. Food is the staff of our life. We live not to eat but eat to live. You know such a good proverb, I think.

Today at the lesson we’ll summarize and systematize our knowledge on the topic: talk about your likes and dislikes in food, recite rhymes, develop your listening, reading and writing skills, practice a project work, develop your pair and group skills.

Warming up. Уведення в іншомовну атмосферу.

Look at the blackboard and try to guess it reading the proverb:

“BREAKFAST EAT YOURSELF, A DINNER EAT WITH A FRIEND AND SUPPER GIVE THE ENEMY”

-Did you eat (drink) something?

T: Let’s revise some words, try to pronounce them correctly and try to remember as many words as you can. The pupil who names all the words wins.

Listen to me and repeat it after me:

-rice, egg, biscuits, bread, pineapples, cherries, orange, fish, meat, potatoes, carrots, tea, tomatoes, cheese.

2.Make up dialogues. Show us what to say when you are in a café, how to ask for a menu, how to make an order, how the meals are called in the menu.

-         Good morning. Can I help you?

-         Can I have the menu?

-         Here you are. Are you ready to order your meal?

-         I’d like mashed potatoes, fried fish, a vegetable salad.

-         Anything else?

-         A sandwich with ham and cheese.

-         Would you like any drinks?

-         A cup of tea, please.

-         That’s 11,85.

-         Here you are.

-         Thank you. This is your change and this is your order. Enjoy your meal!

-         Thank you.

Dialogue 2.

-         Good morning! Welcome to our café!

-         Thank you. Can I have the menu?

-         Here you are. Are you ready to order your meal?

-         Yes, I am. A two egg omelet with bacon, a roast duck with apples, some pasta.

-         Good. Any dessert?

-         Yes, a chocolate cake with strawberries.

-         Would you like any drinks?

-         A cup of coffee, please.

-         That’s 14,75.

-         Here you are.

-         Thank you. This is your change and this is your order. Enjoy your meal!

-         Thank you.

3. Brainstorming.
