Мета:

Практична:  Закріпити тематичний мовний матеріал.

                        Формувати навички монологічного мовлення на рівні зв’язного

                      тексту.

                        проектної діяльності.

Освітня:  Розширити знання дітей про Сполучене Королівство.

I.  Організація початку уроку і постановка задач.

Today we`ll go on speaking about the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. You have already leamed much about this country and at this lesson  we`ll sum up our knowledge and learn some new interesting facts

about the UK.

You know there are many wonderful countries with interesting history, beautiful traditions, marvelous nature, nice people. About one of these countries we are going to travel now. This country is Great Britain.

So, welcome to Great Britain. (відео про краіну)

III.  Warm – up

      Before starting our tour we`ll try to discover this country. By the way,

  •          do you know who discovered Great Britain? Yes, the Romans.
  •          What was the weather like when they were looking for a new land? (foggy)
  •          What did the Romans see at last? (white chafk cliffs)
  •          What did they cry? (Albion)
  •          What does the word ”Albion” mean? (“Alba” means ”white” in Latin)
  •          So, what is the poetical name of Great Britain? (“foggy Albion”)

IV. Let`s recollect the general information about the modern UK (nowadays)

  1.      geographical position;
  2.     rivers and lakes;
  3.      мountains;
  4.     сlimate.

V. Project work (group)

      You have been divided according to 4 parts of the country, which I suppose,

      interested you the most of all.

     національні символи та традиції всіх чотирьох частин з демонстрацією

     слайдів, піснею “Yesterday” The Beatles, декламацією вірша Р.Бернса

     елементами уельського та ірландського танців)

VI. Finally, prepare for the guiz on the topic ”The land of Great Britain”

  1. Guess the name of the part of the UK. It is the largest island of the

British Isles. It consists of 3 parts: Scotland, England, Wales. (Gr. Br.)

  1. This is a part of Gr. Br. It is small, but larger than Northern Ireland.   

     The highest mountain here is Snowdon. The capital is Cardiff. It is   

     situated in the west of the island. (Wales)

  1. This part is larger than Wales, but smaller than England. It has the

highest mountain in Great Britain. It is Ben Nevis. The largest city is     

     Glasgow, but it is not the capital. This part is situated in the north of  

     the island. (Scotland)

  1. This country is in the west of Gr.Br. in the northeastern part of  Ireland. It is small. It’s population is about 1,5 mln people. There are green hills and low mountains. The people of this country speak English and Irish. (N.I)

  4. What is the longest river in Britain (the Severn)
  5. What is the richest port of  London? (the West End)

  8. What was a fortress, a royal palace, a prison, now it is a museum

  4. This winter holiday is more important in Gr. Br. than New Year`s Day.

                          Тема: Mass Media In Our Life( 9 клас)

Мета:

1) розвивати мовленнєві компетенції учнів за допомогою узагальнення знань по темі «Mass Media»;

2) сприяти використанню вже вивченої лексики;

3) розвивати навики монологічного та діалогічного мовлення за  вивченою темою, систематизувати знання про засоби масової інформації;

4) практикувати роботу в групах;

5) розширити знання дітей про ЗМІ;

6) виховувати культуру спілкування та колективної праці.

Обладнання:  комп’ютер, телевізор, проектні роботи, роздатковий матеріал, презентації учнів.

Перебіг уроку

І. Початок уроку.

1. Організаційний момент.

T: Good morning students! Glad to see you. I’m sure everybody is all right. Let’s make our lesson interesting and useful. The theme of our lesson is « Mass Media in our life». Please have a look at the motto of the lesson: «Many little things put together may create something great». I think these words are closely connected with the plot of our lesson. Today we are going to speak about mass media. Do you know the mass media is called the 4th power and play a very important part in our lives.

II. Основна частина уроку

And now tell me what types of mass media do you know?

P:  I know TV, the Internet, press and radio.

T: What types of mass media do you use in your everyday life?

P: In my everyday life I usually use TV, the Internet, radio and newspapers.

T: I see you know the main media. But what are their definitions?

Your task is to match the words and their definitions.

  1. Television
  2. Newspaper
  3. The Internet
  4. Radio
  1.      a paper printed and sold usually daily or weekly with news, advertisements etc.;
  2.     the process of sending and receiving messages through the air; broadcasting programmes for people to listen to;
  3.      broadcasting programmes (the news, plays, advertisements, shows, etc.) for people to watch on their television sets;
  4.     a way to communicate with your partner who might be a thousand miles away using the computer (e-mails).

 2. Draw an «Associated Bush» within your groups. I give you 2 minutes. Let’s show  me your drawings and compare them with mine. Great job! (Див.Додаток1)

3. T. And so, you know we cannot imagine our life without mass media. They do not only spread the news, they impose certain values on contemporary people.

T. What is the role of mass media in our life?

P1. M. m. influence people’s consciousness;

P2. M.m. create a certain public opinion;

P3. M.m. form the personality;

P4 M.m. make possible to learn about things that happen around the world quickly.

III. T. Now let’s speak about the main mass media. You know that press is considered to be a classic form of m.m.

What does it include? (newspapers, magazines, brochures)

Unfortunately, with the development of the Internet press is experiencing difficult times.

 You know that newspapers are very popular among people, don’t you?

  1.         Do you like reading newspapers or magazines more?
  2.         What newspapers do the members of your family prefer reading? 
  3.         What are the main types of newspapers in Britain? (papers and tabloids)
  4.         What do people read newspapers for?

( They want to learn some news TV programmes, horoscopes, weather forecasts, etc.)

T: So students, when television arrived, many people predicted that radio would disappear. They were wrong. Since the arrival of television, radio audiences has increased, and radio now has more listeners than ever before. Radio has changed. I think that radio has become the most important media for music.

1.What do you think, when do the people listen to the radio nowadays?

P: I think that many people now listen to the radio while they are working or relaxing.

2. What radio stations do you prefer to listen?

P: I prefer to listen to …

T: I am sure that all of you know the famous English singer Freddy Mercury who loved radio very much. Let’s listen to his well-known song “Radio” and sing it with him.

T.You know TV now is one of the most important mass media. We can hardly imagine our life without television. I think you know much about TV. Prove it .

4 When do you usually watch TV?

5 What are your favourite programmes?

 T: You have a lot of favourite programmes. So the next task is to match each type of programme on the left with the correct item on the right.

T.To have a comprehensive picture of what is going on, people must watch TV programmes, use the Internet, read newspapers and magazines, listen the radio, but do it selectively.
