Equipment and Visual Aids:

1) Visuals: Power Point presentation, DVD Grammar Time 4

2) Handouts: text CN Tower, 3 forms of different colors to fill in (a set for each group), We are the children song lyrics, pictures of St Mark’s Basilica, Burj Khalifa, CN Tower, felt-tip pens

3) Sound Sources: The song “Irregular Verbs”, the song “We are the children";

4) Equipment: a projector, a laptop, a projection screen, a Smart board, Internet access, the Skype equipment

     -Woolen strips of 3 colours to divide Ss into groups

II. Introduction. Presentation of the lesson topic

T: I say WOW . Guess what  WOW means. I will help you – it is an abbreviation and it is about the lesson topic

 

 WOW is the topic of our lesson. It means a world of wonders and we are going to speak about places of interest in the world. We’ll speak about the symbols of cities, the tallest buildings, the most beautiful monuments which attract millions of tourists and are included into the list of modern world wonders and are called man – made wonders.

Today you’ll make a PROJECT

You will make  the best oral story about a man – made wonder

Let’s write it on the board and think how we can make it.

Dialogical speech

T: You are going to see a picture with a landmark with the information about it. Your task is to make up a dialogue about this landmark, trying to find out as much information about it as possible

Hello, my name is Michel, and I am in Italy now. It’s quite cold here today. Is it cold in Kharkov today? I want to tell you about my favourite place in Italy. It is in Venice. 

The Patriarchal Cathedral Basilica of Saint Mark (officially known in Italian as the Basilica Cattedrale Patriarcale di San Marco and commonly known as Saint Mark's Basilica) is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice, northern Italy. It is the most famous of the city's churches and one of the best known examples of Byzantine architecture.

The building is the symbol of Venice, many historical events of Venice happened there. There is a museum and a treasury in it. Millions of tourists visit it every year.
