План – конспект уроку у 4 класі на тему:
«Food around the world»

Objectives:
- to practise reading and speaking skills;
- to give further practice of the target language through reading and listening texts;
Equipment: “Quick Minds 4” Pupil’s Book, Activity Book, multiboard, worksheets, copybooks.
At the end of the lesson students will be able to:
- reinforce vocabulary on the topic;
- tell about their food habits;
- work in groups to discuss their family food traditions.
Procedure
T. -Good morning, dear children! I’m glad to see you again! Let’s greeting with a song.

-What countries did you notice while listening?
Today we are speaking about traditional food in different countries. You’ll repeat the names of the countries and dishes and tell about food you eat at home.
-What country do you think about, looking at the pictures?
-Have you ever been abroad? What local dishes did you eat there? Did you like it?
- Pre-reading activity
-What is the main course of the day? –Breakfast. –Why?
-Develop a word map on the board.
-Let’s talk about your breakfast. Fill in:
I usually have breakfast at …
I always have … for breakfast.
I never eat/drink … for breakfast.
1) Focus on the three photos grouped with the texts and elicit as many of the names of the food items as possible. Explain to the pupils that they will find the words for the other items as they read.
2) Give pupils a time limit, e.g. two minutes, telling them that they only need to look for the food items in order to complete the task.
3) Pupils read the texts quickly and quietly.
4) Pupils compare answers in pairs. Check with the class.
5) Check understanding of the new food vocabulary. Use the photo to explain scrambled and make sure pupils know that in Mexico a tortilla is a thin, round kind of bread that you can roll (as seen in the photo).
1) Encourage pupils to use the texts in PB Activity 1 and the foods from the word map on the board to help.
2) Ask a volunteer pupil to come in front of the class and say what people eat for breakfast in Ukraine.
3) Ask other pupils to answer
• Pupils read and complete the description with the words in the box.
• They complete the table with information about meals in their family. In the extra information box they can write about their favourite foods or exceptions to the routine.
• Pupils give a short presentation to their partner using the notes they have made. Encourage pupils to use the text in Activity 1 as a model.

Summing up
Write about your food habits, using the text in Activity 1 as a model.
