Topic: School life

Цілі:

  • вдосконалювати навички вживання лексики по темі;
  • розвивати навички аудіювання і читання;
  • формувати навички усного мовлення;
  • розширити знання учнів про шкільне життя.

Обладнання:

  • підручник;
  • тематичні малюнки;
  • картки для гри «MIXbag»;
  • роздатковий матеріал;
  • опорні вирази на дошці;
  • текст і завдання для аудіювання;
  • аудіозапис.

                                                                    

  Хід уроку

1. Організація класу. Привітання.

   T: Good morning, children! How are you today? I'm glad to see you.

2. Повідомлення теми та мети уроку. Мотивація.

   The topic of our today's lesson is «Schools in Ukraine. School life». Today we'll talk not only about schools in Ukraine but about your school and your school life. Besides, you'll revise the words on the topic, listen to the text about English school. You'll improve your listening, reading and speaking skills on the topic. So, let's start with the game.

3. Мовна розминка.

  1. Гра «MIXbag».

T: All of you have a list of words. Your task is to underline the words according to the pictures  which are on the blackboard. Then read them and write these words under the pictures. Repeat them all together.

  1. Brainstorming.

T: Look at the blackboard. Here you can see the questions on the topic. They will help you to revise the facts about your school life.

  1. What school do you study at?
  2. What form are you in?
  3. How many days a week do you go to school?
  4. What subjects do you have on your timetable?
  5. What time do your lessons begin?
  6. What is your favorite subject?
  7. Do you do homework every day?
  8. Do you like to go to school?

T: All of you like to go to school. So, tell me please what do we go to school for?

T: Your main task is to get good knowledge at school because it is the main reason we are here.

4. Аудіювання.

T: I've prepared for you a text to listen. It is about a school day in the life of an English schoolboy Simon Carrot. Before listening let's practice some new words from the text. Have a look at the blackboard:

hate – ненавидіти

let me copy – дай мені списати

T: Listen to the text (A Day in the Life of Simon Carrot) and order the sentences:

  1. I was nearly late for school.
  2. The first lesson on Monday is Maths.
  3. I woke up late yesterday.
  4. The next lesson was French.
  5. After lunch we had the history lesson.
  6. I like French, but I hate Latin.

T: Listen to the text again and choose the correct item A, B, C.

  1. I woke up late and (C) couldn't find my school cap.
  2. I was very hungry and (C) I ate meat pie and boiled potatoes.
  3. I haven't done my homework in Latin and (C)

Susan let me copy her Latin homework.

  1. After the History lesson was a time for (B) my favorite lesson.
  2. Фізкультхвилинка.

Stand up, please. Listen, repeat and do the exercises.

 

  1. Читання.

T: It was the text about English school. And now let's speak about schools in Ukraine

  1. Work in pairs. Read the sentences and agree or disagree with them. If disagree explain why. It's a pre-reading task.
  2. I have the text for you «Schools in Ukraine» (Alla Nesvit English 5, 2005,p.34). But the passages in it are mixed. I want you to put them in the correct order and read the text. If will be easier and more interesting for you to work in groups.
  3. Look through the text once more and find the sentences with names of:
  1. a type of school;
  2. a place to eat at school;
  3. school subjects.

 

 

7. Монологічне мовлення.

And finally, I want you to speak about your school. Have a look at the blackboard. The following will help you to do it.

 

My name is…

I go to a … school.

It is a large school.

I go to school from Monday to Friday.

My lessons start at eight o'clock in the morning.

I study English, Maths, Ukrainian, History, Art, Music, Nature Study, PT and some others.

There is a fifteen-minute break after the third lesson.

I have lunch in the school canteen.

My lessons finish at half-past twelve.

After school, I join the Sports Club.

I like my school.

 

8. Підсумки уроку.

T: And now, let's sum up. What was the most interesting for you? Thank you for your hard work today. Your marks are … The lesson is over. Goodbye.
