SPORT. HEALTHY WAY OF LIFE
Цілі:
навчальна: повторити лексику за темою, активізувати її у вживанні; удосконалювати навички читання, аудіювання, сприяти вживанню лексики в мовленій діяльності, формувати монологічне і діалогічне мовлення на основі вивченої лексики, розвивати пам'ять, мислення, творчу уяву, комунікативні здібності, розширити знання учнів про спорт та його значення в житті людини та вплив на здоров’я;
розвиваюча: сприяти розвитку допитливості, мовної здогадки, навичок усного і писемного мовлення на іноземній мові;
виховна: виховувати шанобливе ставлення до людей, які займаються спортом
Тип уроку: урок застосування знань і навичок з елементами гри;
Наочність та обладнання: дошка, проектор, екран, слайди з зображеннями, кліп пісні на англійській мові для фіз.хвилинки, роздатковий матеріал (картки із завданнями), глобус, картки із зображенням відомих спортсменів.
Objectives:
• to revise vocabulary related to sports;
• to develop communicative skills using the active vocabulary on the topic;
• to foster students’ spoken habits.
• to provide opportunities for developing learners’ speaking skills.
Procedure
1. Greeting.
Good morning, boys and girls. Nice to meet you. I’m Victoria Mykolayivna, a teacher from the Shool #2, and these 45 minutes we will work together.
How are you today? Do you like the weather?
So, I think, we can begin our lesson.
2. The theme and the aims of the lesson.
Far away from our land there are two kingdoms. People in the first kingdom are strong, healthy, happy and brave. While the habitants of the other kingdom are weak, sick, pale and sad. And they don’t know what to do, they are tired of suffering. Shall we help them? How do you think what should they do to become healthier, stronger and happier. Of course only sport can help them because good health is a great gift, and all of us must do everything to save our health.
As you understood we continue speaking about sports. Today we shall revise the material of the previous lessons and speak about healthy way of life. We shall find out what sports you like or maybe dislike. You will practice your knowledge on the topic in different exercises and tasks, you will learn also about our countryman Georgy Prokopenko – a famous swimmer, silver winner of Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Today you will work in groups, so be friendly, active and quickly. Because for every right answer you will get such nice smiles.
3. Warming up.
All over the world people of different ages are very fond of sports and games. Sport does not only help people to become strong and to develop physically but also makes them more organized and better disciplined in their daily activities. Sport helps people to keep fit.
So, is physical training an important subject at school?
But at the same time a great number of people don’t go in for sports. Some of them realize that sport is useful but prefer watching sport on TV to going in for it themselves.
So, let’s remember some kinds of sports. Look at the slides it helps you to do the follow activity.

4. Listening.
And now I offer you to listen to the story about our famous countryman. Listen attentively because you will answer the questions about it.
Prokopenko Georgy Yakovych is a fomous ukrainian swimmer, silver medalist of Tokyo Summer Olympic Games in 1964, the winner of the European Championship in 1966, the honored Master of Sports of the USSR(СРСР), was born on the 21 of February in 1963 in Kobeliaky.
His childhood was in the war years and family was very poor, they survived due to his grandfather who was a fisherman. His father was a soldier on the war. Once Georgy and his grandpa went fishing. It was winter. In a moment the ice broke and Georgy found himself in the icy water. Grandpa Ustym save him, but by cost of his life, soon he fall ill with pneumonia and died. Since then Georgy decided for himself to learn to swim so well to be able to save others.
After the war his parents moved to Lviv, he entered the college and soon became the champion of college swimming and physical education. Then teacher advised him to engage seriously in the sport of swimming
Prokopenko woke up unusually early to start his practicing in the swimming-pool. As a result of hours of training every day he invented his unique style of swimming.
His stubbornness, talent and hard work brought him to victory. In 1964 in the Tokyo Olympic Games he got the silver medal, he was almost 28 years old then.
But after it Georgy Prokopenko continued to train, set new records and get the highest rewards. In 1966 he won two gold medals in the European Championship in Utrecht.
He worked as a coach, physical education teacher at the National University of physical education, from where he retired when he was 70.
He is still alive. And he is still training every day.
Every summer he likes to spend time on the river with his friends.

5. Physical activity “The Pinguin Dance” Let’s have a rest from our tasks and do physical activity.
6. Writing. Practise the vocabulary. Open your copy-books and write down the date.
