Тема: Домашні обов’язки. (Підсумковий урок теми)

Мета:  Активізувати вживання лексичних одиниць  теми в усному мовленні.

Практикувати учнів у зв’язних монологічних та діалогічних  висловлюваннях.

Навчати дітей працювати в парах та групах.

Формувати навички аудіювання та читання, вміння вживати ЛО теми в граматичній структурі теперішнього тривалого часу.

Розвивати пам’ять та логічне мислення, навички аналізу та синтезу.

Виховувати пізнавальний інтерес, здатність виконувати хатні обов’язки.

Обладнання: комп’ютерна презентація «Домашні обов’язки», роздавальний матеріал (картки з граматичним завданням, діалог, текст), музичний супровід, комп’ютер, мультимедійний проектор.

ХІД УРОКУ

  І. ПІДГОТОВКА ДО СПРИЙНЯТТЯ ІНШОМОВНОГО МОВЛЕННЯ

1. Greeting. Привітання.

Т: Good morning, children. I’m glad to see you. Sit down, please.

Are you ready for the lesson? Let’s start our work.

2. Aim. Повідомлення теми та мети уроку.

Т: Today’s topic is “Household Chores”. Today we`ll revise lexical and grammar material, read and listen to the texts, read and act out the dialogues. So we’re going to speak about your duties at home.

3. Warming up. Уведення в іншомовну атмосферу.

    a) Т: Read and translate some proverbs. Give their Ukrainian equivalents.  (slide 3)

All is well that ends well.            (Все добре, що добре закінчується.)

Time and tide wait for no man.   (Час на нікого не чекає.)

Life is not all cakes and ale.        (Життя прожити – не поле перейти.)

East or West home is best.          (В гостях добре, а вдома краще.)

Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.    (Не відкладай на          завтра те, що можна зробити сьогодні.)      

    b) Т: Read the poem.       (slide 4)   

When you have a job that’s not much fun,

And you wonder when you’ll get it done,

Don’t wait till later – time may not allow!

Don’t wait till tomorrow –

      T: What proverbs fit our poem?

   c) Т: I have some questions for you, answer them.      (slide 5)

 Do you live in a house or in a flat?

 Who do you live with?

 Do you have a lot of work to do at home?  

 Do you like to help your parents about the house?

 What do you usually do?

Т: Children, look, I have a wonderful idea. Do you know a popular TV programme

« Хата на тата»? We see that a poor father does everything about the house. Imagine that we have the chance to take part in this funny programme. In our project we`ll be the main characters and there are our required tasks. We have to do all of them. We have only forty minutes, and if we do all tasks we`ll win and get a certificate.    (slide 6)

      II. ОСНОВНА ЧАСТИНА УРОКУ

 1. Vocabulary Practice . Робота с лексичними одиницями

  1. Т: Let’s start with  the first task brushing up vocabulary. There is a great variety of work around the house. Can you name the words beginning with …. (slide 7)

b)  T: Complete the chart below with the following household jobs.     (slide 8)

Polish the furniture, weed the garden, cut the grass, make the bed, wash the dishes, wash the car, wash the windows, dry the dishes, clean up your room, take out the garbage, vacuum the carpet, put the food away, hang out the clothes, mow the lawn.

Look at these pictures, can you match the pictures and word expressions, but don’t forget there is one odd expression.

2. Grammar Practice. Відпрацювання граматичного матеріалу.

    T: The second task is to practice using of the Present Continuous Tense. (slides 12-15)

     Now look at the slides and say where are the people and what they are doing using the     Present Continuous Tense.

Wash the Dishes

  • Where is she?-She is in the kitchen.

       What is she doing?-She is washing the dishes.

Vacuum the Carpet

  • Where is she?-She is in the living room.

       What is she doing?-She is vacuuming the carpet.

Wash the Clothes

  • Where is he?-He is in the bathroom.

     What is he doing?-He is washing the clothes.

Cook Meals

  • Where is she?-She is in the kitchen.

     What is she doing?-She is cooking meals.

3. Listening Comprehension. Аудіювання.

T: Listen to Alan, talking about his family and household chores.

  Hoovering – прибирання за допомогою пилососа

      Household chores? No big deal! In my family we have no problems with household

chores. Every Sunday evening we have a little meeting  in our  kitchen. We discuss  all

the things that we have to do, and then we  make a weekly  plan.  Everybody gets some

tasks to do. Nobody stays out. Mum puts the list on the fridge door.  We check it  every

night before going to bed. And that’s it. The plan works well.                                                                                                                                                                 I have to make my bed every day but I tidy up my room once a week. I usually do it on

Saturday morning. I also  have to lay  the table  but I don’t  have to clean it. My sister

Vicky does it. We all look after our dog. His name is Rex. My sister and I feed the dog

but mum and dad  have to  take it  for a walk  twice a day. Mum does  the cooking and

ironing and dad does the hoovering and takes the garbage out on Tuesdays and Fridays.

You know what I really hate?  Washing up.  Luckily,  everybody has to do it. We  take

turns.

HOW I CAN HELP MY PARENTS

My name is Rimma. I live with my mother and father. I like to help them. Every

Saturday I clean my room. I  take  the vacuum-cleaner  and vacuum the carpets. I

sweep the floor, dust the sofa and the chairs. I try to dust the furniture properly.

We have a lot of flowers at home. Twice a week I water them. I like flowers very

much.

I help my mother to lay the table. I bring plates, spoons and forks and put them

on the table. Every day I wash the dishes after lunch and supper.

My mother cooks well. Sometimes I help her when she makes cakes. She usually

makes them before holidays and on my birthday.

If I have time, my mother asks me to go shopping. I go there and buy bread, eggs

and  sugar. Very  often  I  go to the  market with  my  mother. We buy  fruit  and

vegetables  and I help my mother to carry them.

We have a country house. There we have a big garden with many trees, bushes and

flowers in it. There is a lot of work in our garden and I help my parents to do it.

Every day in the morning I water the flowers and plants. I usually take care of the

strawberries.

I am sure it is necessary to help my parents.

     a) T: In our houses we can find a lot of machines that can make our everyday life

easier. Can you name some of them dividing this long word into smaller ones? (slide 16)

  T: Please read your words, we’ll check them.   (slide 17)

  1. T: “Magic Box” I have a magic box. You have to take some pieces of paper

from this box and make up sentences from given words. There are four sentences

for each group.

  1. I help my family with the household chores.
  2. My sister doesn’t sweep the floor in the evening.
  3. I always make my bed and water the plants.
  4. I lay the table for dinner while my mother cooks.
  5. My father doesn’t wash the car every week.
  6. Every Saturday my parents go shopping for food.
  1. T: And now let’s work in groups. For the first group. Match the devices with

their functions. Then make up sentences, as in the example. Write down the date into

your copybooks and do this task in written form.

6. Speaking. Розвиток мовленнєвих навичок.

        a) T: Our next task is checking your speaking skills. Open your books on page 60,

exercise 3. Jane’s mother went away for  the weekend. She left  sticky notes with the

instructions for her daughter. Please read them. And now role-play the telephone talk

the mother and the daughter had in the evening. Work in pairs.

         A is mother. She asks about the things Jane has to do.

         B is Jane. She tells mum about the things she has or hasn’t done.

       e. g. - Have you made your bed?          (slide 18)

       - Yes, of course. / No, unfortunately, not yet.

    b) Work in groups. Робота в групах.

    T: Please work in groups. Tell  what duties you and members of your family have using

some questions.

The first group:

1) Do you (the members of your family) have householding duties? What are they? Who

 tidies up the room?

- does the cooking?

- does the shopping?

- does the washing up?

- feeds and walks the pets?

2) What do you like (don’t like) doing?

The second group:  

  1. Is your mother the busiest person in doing chores? Prove that. What does she

usually do?

  1. Who is the greatest helping hand for your mother?

    T: We`ve done this task. Let`s tick a mark.

   7. Picture Dictation.

T: Let’s write a picture dictation.    

III. ЗАКЛЮЧНА ЧАСТИНА УРОКУ

1. Summarizing. Підведення підсумків уроку.

     T: Children, look, we`ve done all our tasks. Congratulations.

And you deserve the certificate of a new format TV show «The house on the children».

     2. Домашнє завдання. Homework 

     T: Your homework is to write a paragraph about householding duties of your family

members.    

     T: Our lesson is coming to the end. Thank you very much for your work. The most

of you were at the top. Each of you has a good mark for your work at the lesson.
