Виховний захід для учнів шостих класів.

 

Тема:” Customs and Traditions of Great Britain”

Цілі:

1. Практична:

- формувати вміння здійснювати усне спілкування в типовій ситуації;

- зафіксувати і передати усно основну інформацію про  звичаї і традиції  Великобританії.

2.Виховна:

- виховання культури спілкування, прийнятої в сучасному світі;

- позитивного ставлення до англійської мови, культури народу, який розмовляє цією мовою,

- розуміння важливості володіння англійською мовою і потреби користування нею як засобом спілкування.

3.Освітня:

- удосконалювати навички граматичних структур (які вимагає програма з англійської мови для учнів шостих класів) в усному мовленні,

- удосконалювати навички аргументувати свої висловлювання по темі: «Свята  Великобританії та її традиції і звичаї »;

- оволодіння знаннями про  культуру,  звичаї, традиції, Історію та сьогодення Великобританії.

4.Розвиваюча:

- вміння переносу знань та навичок у нову ситуацію на основі здійснення проблемно-пошукової діяльності;

- інтелектуальних і пізнавальних здібностей;

- готовності до участі в іншомовному спілкуванні та подальшої самоосвіти в галузі володіння англійською мовою.

People 1: Great Britain is an ancient and famous country which has a great history. Many famous people were born there.

People 2:(із зали)Oh,no it’s so boring .We all know about it from our English lessons. But what about ordinary people? What about their life? What do they like? What are their traditions and hobbies?

People 3: O.K. We can tell you about it. Listen and watch.

People 4: Every nation and every country has its own traditions and customs. In Britain traditions pay a more important role in the life of people than in other countries. They say British people are very conservative. They are proud of their traditions and carefully keep them up.

People 5: But when we speak about British traditions we always remember that there are four parts in Britain – England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. And traditions are different in these parts of the country.

2. People 6: One of the old English legends says that London can be the capital of the country, rich and great until twelve black ravens live in the Tower of London. Each has got its name and the keepers carefully look after them. If one of the birds dies, another younger raven takes its place. Londoners believe this legend and always bring some food to give to the birds when they come to the Tower

British celebrate Christmas on December 25.Christmas is a religious holiday and one of the happiest holidays on the year, because it is the day that Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.We prepare the Christmas weeks before. We buy gifts for our family and friends. We choose a tree and decorate it with ornaments and lights. And we prepare special foods and cookies.Christmas is also the day that Santa Claus visits us and brings us presents in bright paper and ribbons. He delivers them on Christmas Eve, the night before Christmas, when we are sleeping.

People 2:How does he get into our house?

People8: He climbs down the chimney and leaves the presents under the Christmas tree. In the morning, we open our presents together and then we go to church. People wish each other «Merry Christmas! »

New Year’s Day celebrates the start of a new year. British celebrate New Year’s Day on the first day of January, but the celebration actually begins on December 31, New Year’s Eve, the night before New Year’s Day. I like New Year’s Eve, because my parents allow me to say up until midnight. Some people stay up all night! We blow horns and whistles at midnight to announce the beginning of a new year. Some people shake hands, kiss, hug, sing and shout, «Happy New Year!

People10: 

One of my favorite holidays is Valentine’s Day. We celebrate this holiday on February 14. It is a day of love and friendship. We send greeting cards to our sweethearts and friends and ask them to «Be My Valentine» This means «Be my friend or love» We also decorate our classrooms with big red hearts and give red roses and chocolate to our sweethearts, friends and family.

People11: Pancake day. It  is a popular name for Shrove Tuesday, the day preceding the first day of Lent. It is a holiday when a custom pancake eating is observed.

People 12: Easter is celebrated on a Sunday in April or May. The week before Easter we color eggs. On Easter Sunday children wake up to find that the Easter Bunny has left them a basket of candy.

On March 17, British celebrate an Irish religious holiday, St. Patrick’s Day. This is an important holiday for my family, because my grandparents are from Ireland. They’re Irish immigrants. On St. Patrick’s Day we decorate our houses, schools, and streets with green shamrocks. And we all wear something green. We say that everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day.

People 14:

We honor our mothers on the second Sunday in May. This day is called Mother’s Day. I usually buy my Mom a nice greeting card and flowers. My Dad usually makes a big dinner and we eat it together with our grandparents. It’s our way of saying «Thanks for being such a great Mom!»

A poem:

I like the way you look,

I like the way you cook;

Now what I really want to say is “ Happy Mother’s Day!”

People 15:Halloween is one of the best holidays for children. British children celebrate Halloween on October 31. Children wear masks and colorful costumes. The most popular costumes are ghosts, witches and skeletons. The children walk door to door in the neighborhood and shout «trick or treat! » Most people give them a treat – candy or fruit. We also decorate our houses and schools in the traditional Halloween colors: orange and black. Popular decorations are witches, ghosts, skeletons, black cats and jack-o- lanterns.

Jack- o- lanterns are pumpkins we carve to look like faces. Everyone tries to look scary on Halloween!
