Name of the activity: “The magic bag”
Age group: 6-10
Aim: to practice vocabulary/grammar on the topic.
Materials: school objects
Preparation:
Find a magic bag, it can be a bag used for wrapping presents.
Procedure:
The teacher prepares a bag and puts all the school objects that they have learnt in it. It can be a ruler, a pen, a pencil, a chalk, a paper, a rubber, a book. A pupil is asked to come to the teacher. The task for him is to throw his hand into the bag and choose one object without looking at it. The rest of the class has to ask him the questions. They have to ask the following questions:
- Is it big or small?
- Is it cold or hot?
- Is it wooden (plastic)?
- Can we write (draw) with it?
- Can we play with it?
The words – big, small, cold, hot, wooden, plastic, draw, play are written on the board.
The student answers the answers. The person who guesses the object is supposed to make up full sentences about this object. For example, it is a pen. It is blue. It is plastic. I can write with it. The activity continues till all the objects are known.
The activity can be changed according to the topic. It can be fruit, vegetables, animals.
What learning styles this activity addresses:
For visual learners: colourful objects, written words on the sheets of paper,
For kinesthetic learners: selecting and touching the objects, going to the board.
For auditory learners: teacher’s commands, reading the tasks, asking\ answering the questions aloud

This activity is ideal for young learners. It is a challenge for them to guess the object. It is suitable for all learning types. This activity can be used with a wide variety of topics, grammar constructions and language points.
