Мета:

 - закріпити знання з країнознавства, історії, географії, мовознавства та літератури англомовних країн;

- формувати вміння та навички використовувати сучасні інформаційні технології в своїй роботі та працювати в групах;

- прищеплювати прагнення пізнавати світ,  спілкуватися англійською мовою;

- виховувати почуття поваги до ровесників.

Девіз гри: «Вивчай, розмовляй та живи англійською!»

Erudite- Battle

“Let’s compete!”

Quiz-master:  Good afternoon, everyone! We are very happy to see you at our competition. It is devoted to the English-speaking countries. I’m sure you’ve read a lot of books and got useful information about the countries. This contest will show your achievements and your knowledge of the matter. I wish you success. Be active, honest, smart and you will win for sure!

  The slogan of our contest is “Learn, speak and live English!”

  So, we have 2 teams today and our jury. Let me introduce them to you.

  Well, it’s time for us to start our contest. And I’d like our captains to introduce their teams.

  Ok, let me say a few words about the structure of our game. There are 6 parts in our contests. Your task is just to be attentive and active. Good luck!

The 1^st game: “Warming up”

You will hear questions and your task is to raise your hand and give the right answer. It will bring you 1 point. Let’s start!

1. What’s the official name of Great Britain?
2. What’s the capital of the UK?
3. What river does London stand on?
4. What do Englishmen like to drink at 5 p.m.?
5. Where does the Queen live?
6. How many parts does the UK consist of?
7. What article do we use with the names of the rivers?
8. What’s the name of a tall and big clock in London?

The 2^nd  game: “Where do we go and what do we do?”

Now you will hear the places where people usually go. You need to hear these places and write them near the spheres of activities they correspond. Ready?

1. My brother is active and energetic. He likes swimming very much. He goes THERE 3 times a week. (A swimming pool- SPORT)
2. Last month we went THERE to watch new pictures of famous artists. They were beautiful! (A gallery – ART)
3. Jane is sick. She doesn’t feel well. She needs to see a doctor and to go THERE. ( A hospital – MEDICINE)
4. Great Britain is an island country and it is washed by THIS. ( A sea/ an ocean – GEOGRAPHICAL POSITION)
5. At the weekend my family likes to go THERE. I can ride a bike there and my parents can sit on the bench and have rest. ( A park – REST)

Each team will hear the first word from the well-known phrase. You have to finish this phrase by adding a word to make it complete.

  Now you’ll see 5 fragments of the popular films or cartoons. You should write the names of the film/ cartoon and the author of the book they are based on. Each correct name of the film and the author’s name will bring you 1 point for both.

The 5^th game: “Out of Order Telephone”

Now let’s see how well you understand each other. Stand in a line one after another, back to back in some distance. The first pupil receives a task – it’s a sentence which he must read attentively, remember and then say it to the next pupil without moving from his place. The last pupil must write the sentence on the sheet of paper. Get, set, go!

Team #1:  Teachers and parents are good friends for children.

Team # 2: When you feel bad you need to call a doctor and to stay in bed.

 

The 6^th game: “Choose the right answer”

Well, now you will see and hear 20 questions and 4 variants of possible answers to them. You will have to show us the letter of the correct answer (А, Б, В, Г), which will give you 1 point. Let’s start.
