Тема: Housing and Homes.

Тип уроку: урок  розвитку мовленнєвих навичок та узагальнення лексичного матеріалу

Мета уроку:

• практикувати у вживанні тематичної лексики в усному та писемному мовленні
• удосконалювати навички аудіювання
• удосконалювати навички вивчаючого читання
• розвивати навички усного та писемного мовлення – опис будинку своєї мрії
• розширити знання учнів про різні види помешкань
• розвивати навички соціокультурної та цифрової компетенції
• розвивати навички роботи в парах та групах
• розвивати навички самостійної роботи
• провести тестовий онлайн контроль тематичної лексики (види помешкань)

     

Обладнання: мультимедійна презентація, тематичні малюнки, НМК  “GET 200”, аудіозапис “Choices. Intermediate. CD 1. Track 08”,  відеофрагмент  “10 Strangest Homes”, відеокліп Westlife “Coming back home”, онлайн Kahoot тест “Housing & Homes”  

 

Хід уроку:

 

I. Підготовка до сприйняття іншомовного мовлення

1.  Повідомлення теми та мети уроку: Our today’s talk is about different types of housing and homes. We are going to revise everything we’ve learned  about buildings and dwellings, try to test the vocabulary with the help of Kahoot online platform, develop your listening and reading skills, speak about your dream houses and learn some new and very interesting things about housing around the world.

 

2. Мовленнєва розминка.

a) Matching (in pairs). But first let’s some quotes and sayings about homes which are very popular with British people. Work in pairs to match the beginnings and the endings. (Control interactive ppt)

 

 

  

Discussion: Which of the quotes or sayings are familiar to you? Which was the new one? Which do you find surprising? Which is difficult to agree with? Choose the best one to be the motto of today’s lesson and write it down into your notebooks.

 

II. Основна частина

1. Активізація лексичного матеріалу

Робота з лексичним матеріалом:

1.        Let’s revise the homing vocabulary and build a house (orally as a whole class using ppt)

- What can you say about this house? Its type and location?

 

1.2. Vocabulary Game “Name 3 Magic Things” (orally as a whole class using ppt)

 

1.3. Online Kahoot testing on types of houses “Housing & Homes”: Link to  www.kahoot.it , enter a game code and your name and try to be as fast as possible to choose the correct answer. (https://create.kahoot.it/details/duplicate-of-houses-homes/af745745-8dda-4dda-baba-2ff9188c098b)

Control: online feedback with immediate results + discussion: Which of the types of houses was included in the test though we didn’t study it? (a houseboat - ppt) Why do people choose to live on houseboats? What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages? Where are the houseboats considered as a common type of homing? Could it be your dream house?

2. Розвиток усного мовлення та навичок аудіювання.

2.1. Listening and Vocabulary practice. Listen to a description of a real house and a dream house. Complete the factfile with the missing information. Then choose the right speaker’s dream house from the given pictures.

Listening: a) “Choices. Intermediate. CD 1. Track 08”+ Control orally (+ppt)

        b) Matching + Control orally (+ppt)

2.2. Speaking skills development: Guess Game  - Look at pictures of your classmates’ dream houses you sent me yesterday and guess whose dream house they are (orally as a whole class + ppt).  British people say that tastes differ but I see that some of you have very similar preferences. Tell why you have chosen this very picture and why would you like to live there?

2.3. Watching video and discussing. Sometimes people choose very unusual places and homes to live in. Now you will watch a video “10 Strangest Houses in the World”. While watching think which ones you would like to live in and which of them you would not live at any cost. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQnn1koFOHA)

3. Розвиток вивчаючого та пошукового читання.  Before-Reading: We have already discussed the most preferable places for you to live in. Now tell me what is the most important for you if you would like to rent a flat? – price / location / modern conveniences

While-Reading: now read the announcements about the lease of flats and match the corresponding variants (Hand-outs + ppt)

 4. Розвиток навичок читання та активізація лексичного матеріалу.

Where should you turn to if you need to find a flat to rent? (an estate agency)

Pair work: Read the parts of the dialogue at the estate agency and put them in the correct order (Hand-outs).  Control: orally+ppt

5. Розвиток навичок усного мовлення.  Role-playing. Now part of you will have housing ads and play a role of estate agents while others will be house hunters.  Your task is to find the most suitable dwelling an estate agent can offer you to rent.

 

IIІ. Заключна частина

1. Домашнє завдання (house warming party invitation)

• Home Task: You have moved into a new house and would like to throw a house warming party. Write an invitation to your friend (using a ppt sample)

2. Підведення підсумків. What opinions do you have now as to the lesson quotations? Has it changed? Do you agree with the quote “Your Home is where your heart is”? Then on simple paper hearts write the word you associate your home with and stick it to the big heart on board while the beautiful song “Home” by “Westlife” is being played for you. Then we’ll read them aloud.
