Цей фрагмент уроку буде гарним доповненням до вивчення теми "Музика у нашому житті". Використання пісні на уроці заохотить дітей до більш глибшого сприйняття та запамя'товування необхідної лексики, а також зробить урок веселим та цікавим.
Level: A2
Skills: vocabulary and listening skills
Timing: 40 minutes
Materials: hand-outs, a blackboard, copybooks.
The lesson is connected with topic “Music” and introduces pupils to the famous British band the Beatles and their song “Help”. Using a song at the lesson will help pupils to practise listening skills and revise vocabulary. It is also a memorable way of learning. This activity is helpful and exciting at the same time.
Procedure
I. Running dictation
Before listening a teacher sticks copies of the song to the blackboard with the text that is not completed. The most important thing is that the students can’t see them from places where they are sitting. The students should be divided into pairs so as the one is the writer, the other is the runner. The runner runs to the song, reads and remembers a little, then runs back to dictate it to the writer. The winning pair is the one that finishes ‘dictating’ first. They can all check by taking the text off the wall.
II. Completing the song
Now pupils have got the text of the song and they can listen to it and complete the song. There are some words that children may not know. For example: insecure, self assured, to appreciate, haze.
The teacher can give pupils the definitions of these words:
insecure – not feeling at all confident about yourself, your abilities or your relationships with people;
self-assured – calm and confident about what you are doing;
to appreciate – to understand how serious and important a situation or problem is or what someone’s feelings are;
haze – mist in the air which is difficult to see through.
After that children listen to the song and try to complete the text. They listen twice to check the answers.
III. Drawing
After listening to the song students are offered to draw ‘the story’ as they hear it. First students discuss their pictures in pairs, then a teacher can select a couple of pictures for the whole class to discuss.
At last the whole class can sing it together for pleasure.

I know that I just need you like I’ve never done before.
