План-конспект уроку на тему "Food" спрямований на узагальнення та вдосконалення знань по темі Їжа; на ознайомлення з традиціями харчування в Україні та Великій Британії. Завдання уроку сприяють розвитку як лексичних так і граматичних навиків учнів, також розвивають вміння вести діалог та висловлювати власну точку зору.

Food. Meals.

One should eat to live, not live to eat.

Moliere.

The theme of the lesson: Food in Ukraine and Great Britain.

The objectives of the lesson:

  1. Educational: to generalize and enlarge the knowledge about meals in Ukraine and Great Britain.
  2. Practical: a) to improve the monologue and dialogue speech; b) to master grammar skills; c) to develop habits of hearing, speaking, reading and writing.
  3. Developmental: to develop the ability to express the thoughts, to share opinions on the given topic.
  4. Teaching: to teach pupils to be polite during the group discussions, to respect the points of view of other people.

 

Procedure of the lesson:

 

I Greeting. The report of pupils on duty

II Phonetical drill: (3 pupils work at the blackboard)

Write the words which begin with: (30 seconds)

M: milk, meat, mushroom, meal

S: salad, sandwich, soup, strawberry, sugar.

C: chocolate, coffee, cheese, cucumber, cream, cake, cocktail.

 

III While 3 pupils are working at the blackboard the rest answer the teacher’s questions:

a) How are you today?-are you hungry (thirsty)?-no, I am not, because I ate soup, two cutlets, bread, eggs and drank tea.

b) What time did you have breakfast?

c) What did you have breakfast?

d) Who usually cooks for you?

e) What is your favourite drink?

f) What would you like to eat (drink) now?

 

 

IV One word is odd:

    Cocktail; youghert; sour cream; meat

    Bacon; sausage; chicken ; cheese;

    Breakfast, dinner, lunch, morning.

 

V Dinner-meal-lunch

Breakfast                                                                   supper

How many times a day do Ukrainian people have meals? What they are; what do we have for breakfast, etc. (describe the pictures)

 

 

VI A short dialogue:

What do you like to drink?

What do you like to eat?

Are you thirsty?

Are you hungry? –Yes, I am. No, I am not.

What do you like for breakfast (dinner)?

What time do you have supper (dinner)?

 

VII Listen to the tape recorder.

New words; either-too, especially, it’s boring, adore-to like very much, disgusting.

 

VIII Game : what is in the basket?

Try to guess what kind of fruit and vegetable I have in my basket.

Ask general questions: is it fruit? Is it vegetable? Is it a dish? Is it big? Is it little? Is it sweet? Is it green? What color is it, etc.

 

IX Put the words into the right order:

  1. He, not, at, milk, does, like, all.
  2. I, 2, cups, for, usually, breakfast, drink, coffee, of.
  3. Me, my, cooks, mother, for, sometimes.

 

X Grammar

XII Continue the sentence:

XIII Read and translate the poem.

Some of us like brown bread, some of us like white,

Some of us eat a lot of meat

Some don’t think it’s right

Some of us like apples

Some drink juice at night

Some of us eat many sweets

Some of us don’t think it’s right.

 

XIV Summary of the lesson.
