Length – 40 minutes

Lesson focus – vocabulary, listening, reading, writing

Materials: flashcards, Lego Duplo bricks

Objectives:

  • Developing – to develop attention, concentration, to develop listening, reading and speaking skills, to develop collaboration, team working;
  • Educational – to revise words, to remember requests, commands, to learn how to generalize the information.

 

PROCEDURE

  1. Greetings

  1. Warming up.

Teacher initiates short discussion. Asking the learners what did they do the previous lesson? After that, learners remember and repeat the entire English alphabet, using teacher’s flashcards. (5 min)

PROCEDURE

  1. Teacher sticks flashcards and cards with the corresponding words on the board. Learners are to match the words with the flashcards (3 minutes)
  2. Teacher initiates grouping (each group with four members in) by asking learners to get one wooden stick out of other teacher,s hand. The number of lines on the sticks correspond the number of group. Then? The learners are provided with shits of papers where they can see a list of 12 words. The task for each group is to circle the words in a list, connected with holidays and parties. (5 min)

  1. Exercising in a coursebook and in a workbook (5-7 min)

  1. Lego – dictation (10 min)

Learners are going to work with a peer who sits next to. Kids are provided with six bricks of Lego Duplo for each. The task is to form the first letter of the words they hear from teacher. (Teacher dictates, for example, “PRESENT” and learners form letter “P” on the surfaces of their desks ; “CAKE” – and they form “C” with the help of Lego bricks, and so on and so forth).

Teachers shows phonics flashcards and learners practice reading sounds in words
