- Hello dear friends. We are glad to see you here. Today is a special day in our school, because our dearest people, our best friends from Scotland are our guests today. (Scottish music)

- When we speak about Scotland, we find ourselves in the world of this fairy- tale, this dream, this country that has forever captured our hearts.

- And they know how to rest and have fun! Have you ever heard anything about Highland games? These are competitions of   strong mountaineers, purely Scottish Olympic Games. They compete in throwing a heavy iron piece over the pole, standing behind her, carrying and tossing huge trunk so that it fells to the ground at an angle of 90 degrees, throwing all sorts of heavy things at a distance, players  race on bagpipes, folk dances.

- This is continued almost the whole day in different parts of the field. There are benches around the field, a coffee shop and shops for spectators there. Here you can buy CDs with music played by the participants, Celtic hand made amulets, woolen goods, and a lot of different stuff.

- There are a lot of attractions for children, so no one will be bored. People sit on benches, on the grass, on their backpacks. They eat, drink beer, moving from one corner of competitions to another, communicate with the participants  and the tourists like them, put on all the warm clothes when it gets cloudy  and a cold wind blows, undress when the sun shines, get umbrellas or just weeping, when it rains, but do not go away.

- At the end of Highland games youth games take place: several teams, each of 2 people and 2-wheel wheelbarrow. One sits in this wheelbarrow and the other carries it. The man in the wheelbarrow has a very long spear, with which he should hit the ring on the tree’s arch. The trick is that this ring is very narrow and connected with the bucket of cold water so that if a person does not hit the ring or passes under it too slowly, a bucket of water pours on his back.

- It is so funny! The game is really cool, and it would be great to try it one day - good mood is guaranteed!

1. Our first contest will show how fast you are. The first player in each team starts to skip to the chair and back and gives the rope to the next player. The team which finishes the first –wins! ....

-Please, tell us, which team won this competition……….. Thank you)

2. Now we’ll check how well-directed are the captains of our teams. You will have special buckets on your heads and your task is to throw as many balls as you can in the bucket.  

3. Have you psychic abilities?  2 girls from each team must collect as many as possible objects around the room blindfolded in 30 seconds. The winner is the team whose players will collect more items.

4. For our next competition we need 2 players from each team. Your task is to keep the balloon in the air as long as possible but do not touch it.

5. The Participants of Highland games must be very strong. Let's check it. The Competition "Tug of War"

6. Tired? Isn’t it a good time for refreshing. Can you fly? This competition involves the boys of the teams. You have to “fly” over the chair, return back and give the carpet to the next pilot. The winner is the team that finishes the first.

7. The next competition is 100 meters run. We need 2 participants from each team. The task of the first one is to     … the route on the floor with the toilet paper and the second player should roll it back. The first and the most accurate win.

 8. Perhaps you can also dance? Now we'll see. World famous choreographer of popular dances will show you how to dance. And your task is to repeat them. The team which dance gets more applause is the winner. ....

9. Our next competition is for smart, strong and happy. One player of each team wears special uniform and takes position in front of his team. Other participants inflate balloons, run to their players in uniform and hide the ball. The winner is the team which will hide the largest number of balls for certain time.

-Now we ask our jury to tell the score of the competition.
