Метод дозволяє структурувати і зробити набагато ефективнішою будь-яку розумову діяльність, як особисту, так і колективну, особливо для ситуацій розв’язання проблем та прийняття рішень.

      В основі «Шести капелюхів» лежить ідея паралельного мислення. Традиційне мислення ґрунтується на полеміці, дискусії і зіткненні думок. Однак при такому підході часто виграє не найкраще рішення, а те, яке найуспішніше пропагувалося в дискусії. Паралельне мислення – це мислення конструктивне, при якому різні точки зору і підходи не стикаються, а співіснують.

Білий капелюх: інформація Детальна і необхідна інформація. Тільки факти. Яка ще необхідна інформація?

Використовується для того, щоб спрямувати увагу на інформацію.

У цьому режимі мислення нас цікавлять лише факти. Ми задаємося питаннями про те, що ми вже знаємо, яка ще інформація нам необхідна і як нам її отримати.

 

Жовтий капелюх: логічний позитив

Символічне відображення оптимізму. Дослідження можливих успіхів і позитивних сторін. Переваги. Чому це спрацює?

Вимагає зосередити свою увагу на пошук переваг і позитивних сторін ідеї, яка розглядається.

 

Чорний капелюх: критика

Застерігає і змушує думати критично. Що може статися поганого або що піде не так? Обережність. Дозволяє дати волю критичним оцінкам, побоюванням й обережності. Критика захищає нас від нерозважливих і непродуманих дій, вказує на можливі ризики і «підводні камені». Користь від такого мислення безсумнівна, якщо, звичайно, нею не зловживати.

Червоний капелюх: почуття та інтуїція

І не намагайтеся їх пояснити. Які почуття в мене виникають?

У режимі червоного капелюха в учасників (якщо це колективне обговорення) є можливість висловити свої почуття та інтуїтивні здогади щодо питання, яке обговорюється, не вдаючись у пояснення про те, чому це так, хто винен і що робити далі.

 

Зелений капелюх: креативність

Зосередження на творчості, альтернативних рішеннях, нові можливості та ідеї. Це можливість висловити нові поняття та концепції.

Перебуваючи під зеленим капелюхом, ми придумуємо нові ідеї, модифікуємо вже існуючі, шукаємо альтернативи, досліджуємо можливості, взагалі, даємо креативності зелене світло.

 

Синій капелюх: управління процесом

Керування розумовими процесами. Гарантія дотримання всіх шести капелюхів. Синій капелюх відрізняється від інших капелюхів тим, що він призначений не для роботи зі змістом завдання, а для управління самим процесом роботи. Зокрема, його використовують на початку сесії для визначення того, що належить зробити, і нарешті, щоб узагальнити досягнуте і поставити нову мету.

 

Тема:   Англійські  звичаї  та  традиції.

Мета: формувати вміння та навички усного мовлення, відпрацьовувати в мові  учнів вживання лексичних одиниць теми «Англійські звичаї і традиції», розширювати фiлологiчний кругозір учнів, поглиблювати знання учнів про культуру та традиції Англії, розвивати логічне мислення, уяву, мовленнєву реакцію, готовність вступати в англомовне спілкування, вміння працювати в різних режимах навчання та контролю, виховувати культуру спілкування, повагу до культури та традицій країни, мова якої вивчається.

Тип уроку: урок формування умінь та навичок

Must we encourage people, especially the younger generations, to respect them?

“The Six Thinking Hats” method will help us to discuss this problem from different points of view.

Today it’s time to learn something new. Let’s put on white hats. On your desks you have sheets of paper with the text from which you may learn much interesting about English habits and customs. First of all you should read the text and then fill the table. There are for columns in the table.

Traditions and holidays of Great Britain

Every nation and every country has its own traditions and customs. Traditions make a nation special. Some of them are old-fashioned and many people remember them, others are part of people’s life. Some British customs and traditions are known all the world.

From Scotland to Cornwall, Britain is full of customs and traditions. A lot of them have very long histories. Some are funny and some are strange. But they are all interesting. There is the long menu of traditional British food. There are songs, saying and superstitions. They are all part of the British way of life.

You cannot really imagine Britain without all its traditions, this integral feature of social and private life of the people living on the British Isles that has always been an important part of their life and work.

English traditions can classified into several groups: traditions concerning the Englishmen’s private life (child’s birth, wedding, marriage, wedding anniversary); which are connected with families incomes; state traditions; national holidays, religious holidays, public festival, traditional ceremonies.

There are only six public holidays a year in Great Britain that is days on which people need not go in to work. They are: Christmas Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Spring Bank Holiday and Late Summer Bank Holiday, Boxing Day.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of people all over the world send and receive Christmas cards. Most of people think that exchanging cards at Christmas is a very ancient custom but it is not right. In fact it is barely 100 years old. The idea of exchanging illustrated greeting and presents is, however, ancient. So the first commercial Christmas card was produced in Britain in 1843 by Henry Cole, founder of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.

December 26th is Boxing Day. Traditionally Boxing Day Hunts is a day for foxhunting. The huntsmen and huntswomen ride horses. They use dogs, too. The dogs (fox hounds) follow the smell of the fox. Then the huntsmen and huntswomen follow the hounds. But the tradition of the December 26th hunt is changing. Now, some people want to stop Boxing Day Hunts (and other hunts, too). They don’t like foxhunting. For them it’s not a sport – it is cruel.

There are some British traditions and customs concerning their private life. The British are considered to be the world’s greatest tea drinkers. And so tea is Britain’s favourite drink. The English know how to make tea and what it does for you. In England people say jokingly: ‘The test of good tea is simple. If a spoon stands up in it, then it is strong enough; if the spoon starts to wobble, it is a feeble makeshift’.

      In western society many people feel that traditions are no longer needed. They say that they may have been necessary when we lived in small tribal communities and needed traditions to help form a cohesive group. The irony is that individuals in our society are likely to feel more isolated than ever before. Surrounded in a city with six million people may live the loneliest man in the world. With all of our technology to connect us, we see less human contact than ever before. Traditions that bring us together are needed more than ever.

The Full English Breakfast is a traditionally cooked "breakfast" that today is also served at other times during the day, like at "Brunch" - breakfast and lunch - which is a late breakfast and a early lunch and quite often eaten on the weekends by many busy city people. 
     The usual ingredients of a traditional full English breakfast are bacon, eggs, fried tomatoes, fried mushrooms, fried bread or toast, and sausages, usually served with a large cup of tea or a "mug" of tea. Black pudding is sometimes part of English Breakfasts in places like Scotland.
      
    Text 2.
The celebration of New Year’s day varies according to the district. In the south of England, the festival of Christmas, lasting 12 days from December 25th, runs on well into the New Year. The decorations of coloured streamers and holly, put up round the walls, and of course the fir-tree, with its candles or lights, are not packed away until January 5th. On the evening of December 31st, people gather in one another’s homes, in clubs, in pubs, in restaurants, and hotels, in dance halls and institutes, to «see the New Year in». There is usually a supper of some kind, and a cabaret, or light entertainment. The bells chime at midnight. The people join crossed hands, and sing «Auld lang syne», a song of remembrance. On New Year’s day all English schoolchildren make New Year resolutions.

Text 3.        Mother’s Day

America and England celebrate an wonderful holiday. It is Mother`s Day. There is almost the same holiday on the 8th March in Russia. Mother`s Day is a celebration that honors mothers.

Mother`s day was first celebrated in 1908 in America.

In Great Britain and Ireland celebrate Mothering Sunday on the fourth Sunday of March. They eat cake and buy gifts of chocolate or flowers for their mothers as way to thank them for all they do.

A popular saying is that God cannot be present everywhere and so he created mothers.

If it is not possible to see a mother, one can send presents and cards to her. Flowers and cakes are the traditional gifts for all mothers in England. All women try to be nice and happy on this day.   

    

And now one more splendid custom. British people have fun pulling crackers over Christmas lunch or dinner. The crackers explode when you pull them and inside you can find a joke or a riddle. But today we have questions instead of jokes.

• When you move to another country, you have to change some of your customs of daily living. For example, you have to make some change in your language, your food, and your work habits.
• you should give up the customs that you already have
• a person might change his old customs in order to keep up with the new society
