ENGLISH MARATHON RACES

 

Мета: Закріпити засвоєння навчального матеріалу з тем, що вивчаються у шостому класі, тренувати учнів у його вільному використанні в нестандартних умовах; розвивати мовленнєву компетенцію учнів, спонтанну мовленнєву реакцію, пам'ять,  увагу; формувати впевненість у своїх здібностях у володінні англійською мовою, виховувати інтерес до країн світу;  вчити розуміти іноземну мову в ігрових ситуаціях; проконтролювати рівень засвоєння учнями даних тем; розвивати вміння застосовувати вивчені лексичні одиниці та граматичні правила в конкретній обстановці; розвивати здогадку та вміння швидко орієнтуватися; прищеплювати цікавість до спорту; розвивати почуття обов’язку захищати навколишнє середовище; виховувати вміння працювати в колективі (команді).

       Обладнання: Стінні газети, виготовлені учнями; заготовки з завданнями та             варіантами відповідей; 2 набори ігрових карток; прапори країн світу.

 

Хід заходу

• Hello, everybody!

We are happy to welcome you all to our English marathon races.

 

- Добрий день всім присутнім! Ми раді вітати вас на нашому Англійському марафоні.

 

- We have two teams, representing 5, 6 and 7 forms. They are to pass successfully a number of tasks. Then according to their results we will define the winner, that’s the best and the smartest  team. To cope with this task we have a commission of strict jury consisting of ____________________________________________________________

- Сьогодні будуть змагатися команди 5-го, 6-го та 7-го  класів, щоб визначити найспритнішу та найрозумнішу команду. І допомагати у цьому нам буде найсправедливіше журі.

-Now let’s have a look at our participants – each team is supposed to have their particular features – I mean the name and the motto. So, let’s get acquainted with them.

1. What’s quiz

• You’ve been studying English for ages. You know a lot of facts about England, English-speaking countries, their customs and traditions. To check up your knowledge I’ll ask you questions and you should answer them as quick as possible

     One correct answer is a point. Let's go!

- Ви вже вчите англійську кілька років і знаєте багато фактів про Англію, англомовні країни, їхні звичаї і традиції. Щоб перевірити ваші знання я задаватиму вам запитання, а ви повинні відповісти на нього якнайшвидше. Якщо знаєте відповідь - піднімайте свій кружечок.

2. Jumbled words

- So, you see, our captains are clever, now let’s check how can they organize the work in teams. You must run to the table with a task on it with a ball between legs and unscramble the words ( one for each member). One correct answer is a point. Get, set, go!

 

- Настав час перевірити, як капітани можуть організувати роботу у своїх командах. Тримаючи м’яч ногами, вам треба дістатися до столу із завданням та розшифрувати слова якнайшвидше.

3. The telephone is out of order

• Now let’s see how well do you understand each other. Stand in a line one after another, back to back  in some distance. The first pupil receives a task – it’s a sentence which he must read attentively, remember and then say it to the next pupil without moving from his place. The last pupil must say the right sentence. Get, set, go!

 

• А тепер перевіримо ваше вміння працювати у команді. Завдання – «Зіпсований телефон» - вишикуйтесь у шеренгу спинами один до одного на відстані одного кроку.

Перший учень повинен прочитати і запам’ятати речення, потім переказати іншому і т.д. Завдання останнього – озвучити це речення вірно.

4. Understand me

• It’s a famous kind of a competition and four members of each team can try their abilities in miming. Take a card with a word on it and mime it to another team. Their task is to recognize the word correctly. For each correct word you’d get a point.

 

• - Наступний конкурс називається «Зрозумій мене». Для участі запрошуються по чотири учасники від команд. Їхнє завдання мімікою та жестами показати слово на картці. Команда суперник повинна відгадати.

5. Associations

•                   For the next contest we need four pupils from each team. You’ll have a card with a word on it and you should write 5 associations with it. While the pupil writes, the team also write their associations. You’ve got a point if your associations coincides. One point for each word.

-Асоціації – так називається наступний конкурс. Трьом  учасникам від кожної команди треба взяти картку зі словом та написати 5  асоціацій з цим словом.  Група теж пише свої асоціації - скільки слів співпаде, стільки балів отримують команди.

 

6. Making words

 

• Do you know English alphabet well? Let’s check this in our next task. Each member of your team must make new words.
•                  Наступний конкурс передбачає ваші знання лексичних одиниць та їх написання. Необхідно утворити якомога більше нових слів від поданого слова.

Ancient – nine, tie, tea, nice, ant, cat, ten, can.

 

7. Find the opposites

• You have to find opposites for the words.

 

• Лопнувши повітряну кульку ви повинні  знайти протилежне за значенням слово і утворити пару

Fast – slow

Good- bad

 

8. Guess the riddles.

1. The teacher writes on me with chalk.

10. The characters of cartoons and fairytales  

Now we have the last game. Our teams should a guess riddle. I'll say some words about the famous characters of English and American books and cartoons. You should guess whom I mean.

Ви повинні назвати героя книги або мультфільму, якого я описала.

1. This character is a funny bear. He is fat but very nice. He likes honey and doesn't like bees. He enjoys to make up rhymes. He likes to visit his friends Rabbit and Piglet. (Winnie-the-Pooh)

2. This funny mouse is a character of the American cartoon. This mouse was created by Walt Disney. The mouse is very clever, but he always has a lot of problems with a cat. He has to make many tricks to run away from this cat. (Jerry)

3. This is a boy. He has no parents. His parents were magicians and the angry man killed them. This boy is very talented and clever. He studies at the magic school. He can do a lot of magic tricks. He has got a lot of friends. They help him to fight against angry man. (Harry Potter)

4. She is a very kind and nice girl. She has got a father but she hasn't got a mother. Her stepmother and her stepsisters are angry and greedy. This girl has got a godmother, a fairy. The fairy gives her a beautiful dress and crystal shoes to go to the ball. But the girl loses one shoe. (Cinderella)

 

•  Now we have finished all the tasks and its time to announce the winner. According to the scores and juries decision we can congratulate the team   _________              form with the victory and present them with golden medals “ The best English learner”. And the next team also receives silver medals “ Good English learners”.
