Тема: “Україна: національна символіка”

Theme: “Ukraine: National Symbols”

Мета: формування в учнів наступних компетентностей:

ключових , зокрема: вміння вчитися та проявляти зацікавленість та відповідальність у навчанні;
громадянської – усвідомлювати свою належність до українського соціально-культурного середовища;
загальнокультурної – ознайомлення з текстом гімну України та іншими державними символами англійською мовою;
соціальної – проектувати стратегії своєї поведінки з урахуванням інтересів та потреб інших;
ІКТ-компетентності – працювати з різними джерелами інформації;
здоров’язбережувальної – виконуючи фізкультхвилинку, усвідомлювати необхідність зарядки та фізичних вправ;
предметні : проконтролювати рівень знань, умінь та навичок учнів читання та розуміння прочитаного; навчити учнів самостійно виконувати тести та оцінювати рівень власних знань; розвивати елементи логічного й аналітичного мислення під час виконання контрольних тематичних завдань; формувати в учнів повагу до державної символіки та виховувати любов до рідної країни.

Обладнання: підручник Сірик Т.Л., Сірик С.В. «Англійська мова», 9 клас (5й рік навчання); зошит, відео з гімном України , ноутбук, текст ‘UKRAINIAN SYMBOLS’, тестові завдання, малюнки із зображенням прапору та гербу України.

1. Оргмомент та мотивація

T: Good morning, pupils. How are you?, etc.

Today you’ll have Reading Comprehension Lesson. You’ll read the text about the State Symbols of Ukraine and do Reading Comprehension Test.

2. Уведення в іншомовну атмосферу. The short talk and listening of the Ukrainian Anthem in English

T.: Before you start reading the text “Ukrainian Symbols”, tell me please what you know about state symbols of our country. What are they? – Yes, you are quite right. According to the Constitution of Ukraine the state symbols of our country are:

the State Flag of Ukraine;
the State Coat of Arms of Ukraine (the State Emblem);
the State Anthem Of Ukraine.

Do you know that our National Anthem is translated and performed in English?

Read the words of one of the authors of its translation Olena Boltushkina, who is a representative of UNICEF-Ukraine. Olena explained that she and her friends in Kiev wanted people around the world understand what is sung in Ukrainian anthem and why the people of Ukraine so love it. "These are the words that help us to be strong and united in our struggle for a better future. So my friends and I translated these words into English and sing for you. We have tried to preserve the meaning of words and construction of sentences to convey the poetry, melody and the beauty of Ukrainian anthem. I hope we did it "- Boltushkina wrote on his page on Facebook. "Do not hesitate to sing with us, so that we can feel your support," - she urged people from all over the world.

Glorious spirit of Ukraine shines and lives forever. Blessed by Fortune brotherhood will stand up together. Like the dew before the sun enemies will fade, We will further rule and prosper in our promised land.

For the liberty the folk strives ardently from San to Don, And will let no alien power in our common home. Aged Dnieper and Black Sea arm in arm rejoice, And Ukraine will see daylight and live by Fortune's choice.

Passion and hard-working hands prove bright future true. Song of freedom, loud and clear, guides us all way through. Over mountains and steppes it flows, over ages told. Valorous Ukraine stands strong in a thriving world.

Do you like English translation of Ukrainian Anthem? (Its music sounds nicely, melodiously and tunefully. The anthem’s words are understandable and apprehensible to the entire world thanks their English translation.)

б) Написати твір на тему “My motherland: the place where I live, the place I love the most”. Твір повинен мати чітку та логічну структуру, а також розкривати відповіді на наступні запитання:

- Describe the place (Опишіть місце); - Explain why this place is important to you (Обґрунтуйте, чому це місце є важливим для вас); - Enumerate the advantages of living in this place (Перерахуйте переваги проживання в цьому місці).
