 Tapescript Page 55, Exercise 2

A.  I really liked Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest. It's a follow-up to the first Pirates of the Caribbean film. I love action and adventure films. I think the first one was better than this follow-up, though. The story in this one isn't very good. But it's got lots of action, and Johnny Depp is brilliant as Captain Jack Sparrow. He's really funny.

B. The Incredibles is a computer animation. It's about this family of superheroes and they're really funny. It's one of the best comedies I've ever seen. I suppose it's a children's film, really but I like it. I have to say that it's one of my all-time favourite films! The story is great. I love the characters in the family, especially the baby, Jack-Jack. He's really cool. I hope there'll be a follow-up.

C. I saw Oliver Twist with my class at school. We're reading the book by Charles Dickens in my English class. I quite enjoyed the film. It's set in 19th century London. The acting was good. I liked Barney Clark as Oliver, and I really liked Ben Kingsley as Fagin, too. The photography was great as well; it really looked like Victorian London. The story is fantastic, a really exciting drama, but I prefer the book. The film is a bit too long.

D.   I saw Superman Returns with my boyfriend. I don't normally like films like that, you know, action or fantasy, but it was really good. It had a really good story. It was quite sad in places, too, quite romantic, because Superman is trying to get back with the woman he loves - Lois Lane. And the special effects were brilliant. Superman goes to the bottom of the ocean and out into space and you really believe he's there.
