Приклад запитання: CURLING Curling, born in Scotland in the first half of the 16th  century, was played in frozen ponds using simple stone. It`s known since 1511. Examples of this sport can also be found in the paintings of Flemish artists. In the 17th  century players started to use suitably treated stone discs and sticks to sweep the snow. Since 1775 the game has become popular in Northern America, where it was introduces by immigrants. The first Olympic Winter Games curling tournament was held at Chamonix in 1924. After Lake Placid in 1932, curling was absent from the Olympic programme for 50 years; it appeared again as a demonstrative at Calgary in 1988. It was reinstated as a competitive discipline at Nagano in 1998. That year the men`s event was won by the Swiss team and Canada won the gold in the women`s.Curling is a team game that is performed on a frozen pitch, the concept of which is very similar to bocce (traditionally played balls on natural soil or asphalt courts). It consists of sliding 19.92 kg blocks of stone (called rocks) which have a handle so that they stop as close as possible to the centre of a target drawn on the ice (called the house). Each team consists of four players. The lead is one that makes the first throw. The second is a good point maker, but also good at taking off the opponent’s stones that are in the way. The third is faced with a more tricky game. The fourth player, the skip, is the most experienced player, who devises tactics, advices his teammates on each throw and throws last.Say if the following statements true or false.Competitions on curling are held only in winter.

Приклад запитання: Read the text and decide if the sentences are ‘Right’ (A) or ‘Wrong’ (B). If there is not enough information in the text to answer ‘Right’ (A) or ‘Wrong’ (B), choose ‘Doesn’t say’ (C).AUSTIN HAYHave you ever wished you had your own place? That’s exactly how American teenager Austin Hay felt – before he built his own house, at the age of sixteen. Using materials which mostly came from recycling centres, he constructed his own home. It’s got everything he needs, including a kitchen, a bathroom (with shower), a bedroom and a toilet. The house, which is only about 40 square metres, is one of the world’s smallest houses. It’s unusual for another reason too – it’s built on wheels, so Austin can take it with him wherever he goes. He did most of the work himself although he had some help from his father and family friends. The whole thing took less than two years. As soon as the house was finished, Austin held the smallest party ever. Then he moved in, and he’s lived there ever since. He likes the independence, and he likes ‘living small’, he says, because it’s cheap and green. At the moment, the house is parked in his parents’ garden. However, when he leaves school and goes to university, he won’t leave it behind. He’s going to take it with him, and live in it while he studies. Then when he gets a job, he plans to take his little house with him once more.Austin Hay was keen to try living independently even as a teenager.
