Приклад запитання: Educational System of Ukraine Education in Ukraine is compulsory and free for all children between the ages of 6 and 17. There are three stages of education: pre-school education, secondary education and further, higher education. Pre-school education is from 3 to 6 years of age and it is not compulsory. Parents may give their children to the kindergarten or may leave them at home with their grandparents.Secondary education is from 6 to 17 years of age. A secondary school is subdivided into a primary school for children aged 6 to 10, a lower (middle) school for children aged 10 to 15 and an upper school for children aged 15 to 17. Primary school comprises grades 1-4. In Primary School children learn reading, writing, mathematics, natural history, music, art, labour, physical training and the English language. After four years of primary school children go to a secondary school. Lower secondary (middle) school comprises grades 5-9. It has to give the young generation profound and solid knowledge of the fundamentals of sciences. After finishing the 9th grade pupils receive a Certificate of Incomplete Secondary Education and can go to a college of further education to study for more practical (vocational) diplomas relating to the world of work or can stay at school and continue their education in the upper grades for entering a university.Three types of institutions offer a secondary school curriculum for the upper grades 10-11: the general academic schools; the secondary vocational-technical schools (colleges) and the specialized secondary schools. The core curriculum is similar in all three; however, the present vocational education system covers both general secondary and vocational programmes. In Ukraine there are 778 vocational institutions for more specialized needs, such as agriculture, heavy and light industry, building, services, economy and law. Many Ukrainian children attend gymnasia and lyceums. These schools major in humanities or science. The majority of the schools in Ukraine are financed by the state. Private schools are few in number. Upper secondary school comprises a 2-year general school (grades 10-11). After finishing the 11th grade students receive a Certificate of Complete Secondary Education which is leading to the Matriculation Examination, giving successful students access to university.Universities of higher education accept students from 17 basing on their final tests results. Generally, universities award three kinds of degrees: the Bachelor, the Specialist and the Master. Higher education institutions offer a 5-year programme of academic subjects for undergraduates in a variety of fields, as well as a graduate course, he or she writes a thesis receives a candidate's degree or a doctoral degree. In Ukraine there are 232 universities. The most famous Ukrainian universities are Kyivo-Mohylyanska Academy, the Kyiv’s oldest university; Shevchenko Kyiv National University, which contains the National Scientific Library and the Main Astronomical Observatory; and Kyiv Polytechnic University, the largest Kyiv’s university. Of these, Kyivo-Mohylyanska Academy is the oldest outright, having been founded as a theological school in 1632, however the Shevchenko University, which was founded in 1834, is the oldest in continuous operation. 1.How long do children study at school in Ukraine?

Приклад запитання: Nastia Lisova lives in Ukraine. In her opinion, when you become a teenager, you understand that the childhood has gone and it is time to think about choosing your future profession, your future life and further education. She has known for a long time that leaving school is the beginning of a far more serious examination of her abilities and character. It is difficult to choose one of hundreds of jobs that would suit her most of all. She wants to be a teacher. It is really a hard job, because you should know perfectly the subject you teach, you must be well-educated and well- informed; you should develop kindness, love for the truth and beauty in your pupils. You also have to be responsible and thoughtful. With these traits of character you will be deeply respected by children. But the only thing that stops her is money paid for this job. Another interesting sphere for Nastia is an advertising business — it takes much attention and imagination. But do not think that teenagers in Ukraine are so boring that they think only about their future lives. Like teenagers in any other country they are interested in sport, music, discos and clothes. Most of their time they spend at school, especially when they have ten lessons like at some lyceums studying even on Saturday. But despite this many young people find time for different kinds of rest. Some go swimming or cycling, others prefer to stay at home and watch their favourite films or spend several hours in the Internet. Music lovers can find everything they like in it. Mobile phones have become very popular with teenagers. Personally Nastia doesn't think that they are such an important part of the teenage life but they play a great role, in many unexpected situations. The life of teenagers in Ukraine is as interesting and full of trouble as the life of young people around the world. 1. Приклад запитання: Read the text and choose the correct answers.THE SECONDARY SCHOOL SYSTEM IN THE UKFrom the age of 11 to 16, children go to secondary school. Most take children of all abilities and are called comprehensive schools. But there are also grammar schools, where children take an exam to enter, especially in Northern Ireland. In Scotland, secondary schools are called high schools or academies. When they are 14, all children choose the subjects they want to study at GCSE (or National 5 exams in Scotland). These are national exams you take at 16. Everyone has to do English and Maths. Students also choose four or more additional subjects from a list. This includes subjects like languages and sciences but also photography and drama. The school year The school year goes from September to July in England and Wales, August to June in Scotland and September to June in Northern Ireland. There are three terms and short holidays in the middle of each term. The Christmas and Easter holidays are usually two weeks, and the summer holiday is six weeks, or two months in Northern Ireland. The school day The school day at secondary schools goes from about 8.45 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. There's a break in the morning and another for lunch. Most British school students have to wear a uniform. Each school has its own colours for the uniforms. Sixth form / S5 and S6 When students are 17 and 18, they take more exams. In Scotland, these exams are called Highers in the first year and Advanced Highers in the second year. In the rest of the UK, students go into the sixth form to study four subjects at AS level in their first year and three of these at A level in the second year. You need to pass these high-level exams to go to university. LYCEUM LEADER WEBSITESecondary School (UKRAINE)Welcome to the Lyceum Leader website. The school, built in 1933, has a very long history.
