Приклад запитання: 1 Read the text and choose the following statements «True» or «False».1 The man in the story had no wife.___________Once there was a man who had three daughters and was a single parent to his children. One morning he asked his eldest daughter, Sonya, to wash the breakfast dishes before going to school. But she was already running late, so she burst into tears. The father decided that she was just trying to get out of an unpleasant chore, and he demanded that she dry her tears and get back to work immediately. She silently obeyed him, but that day they were driving to school in silence. The man dropped his daughters and moved to the office. He tried to work but couldn’t concentrate — all he could see was his daughter’s scared, tear-stained face as she climbed out of the car. So he decided to say sorry to his daughter. He took permission from the school to take his daughter for lunch. When she came out, he turned towards his daughter and said, «Sonya, I am sorry. It’s not that I shouldn’t have asked you to help out at home, but I had no right to it this morning without any previous warning. I upset you at a time when you most needed my love and support. And I let you go without saying «I love you. Please forgive me.» Sonya put her arms around her father’s neck and said, «Oh, Dad, of course I forgive you. I love you too.»

Приклад запитання: A Laconic Answer The Lacons lived in that part of Southern Greece which was called Laconia. Those people were very brave. They loved their Motherland and defended it from all the enemies. Everybody knew that their life was very simple. They tried to follow the laws of their country and never spoke long. "The shorter, the better," was their rule. "Never use more words than you need," was another rule. Nowadays, as you probably know a very short answer is often called a laconic answer, because the Lacons usually gave such short answers. In Northern Greece there was a land called Macedonia. King Philip ruled there. He was not very clever and he was not very brave, but he wanted to become the king of all Greece. One day, he gathered a great army and soon he became the master of Greece. Only Laconia was not conquered. Then King Philip wrote a letter and sent it to the courageous Lacons. The letter said: "If I win the battle with your army, I will become your king and ruin your great city. If I become your ruler, I will make your people slaves". A few days later an answer was brought back to him. King Philip found only one word in it. The word was very short, and that was "If". 1. Where was Laconia situated?

Приклад запитання: A great place to liveWhat do you look for when deciding where to live? Many people never move from their home town, of course. Othersmove because of a job. Some, though, think carefully about the lifestyle they are looking for. It may be somewhereaffordable or a place with a vibrant arts and music scene. They may want an iconic skyline or narrow cobbled streets and small local shops. Would you prefer clean air or a bustlingcosmopolitan city?Amazingly, whatever your tastes or desires, you may be surprised to learn that Zurich, in Switzerland, has all these things and more. That’s why, in many surveys, it comes first in the list of best cities in Europe in which to live and is only just behind Melbourne, Australia, as the best city in the whole world. Better even than traditionally popular cities such asVancouver, Singapore and Montevideo.Zurich is Switzerland’s largest city with a population of about 400,000. However, 30 percent of the population wereborn overseas so it is a very multicultural city. People fromabroad are attracted by the job opportunities, high salaries andlow rates of taxation, the world class schools and universitiesand the overall high standard of living.Of course, this is Switzerland so prices are high, andfinding affordable accommodation in the city centre may bedifficult. However, the city has excellent public transport and,as it isn’t too sprawling, it is easy to get from one part of thecity to another quickly and comfortably. Therefore residentscan take advantage of lower accommodation costs furtherfrom the centre.Zurich is also a very green city with many parks andbreathtaking views of the Alps in the distance. Between thecity and the mountains there are lakes where you can swim, sail or go kayaking in safety. It should be no surprise that Zurich has some excellentshops, which are modern and clean. There are also restaurantsto suit all tastes and budgets. Culture lovers will be impressedby the huge variety of cultural institutions in the city includingopera, ballet, theatre, museums, art galleries and concert halls. There are also attractions for young people with many clubsand a thriving alternative music scene. Not many peoplerealise that Europe’s biggest techno event is held in Zurich asis the Caliente Festival, the largest Latin cultural event on thecontinent. So, are there any drawbacks to living in the city at all? Some parts of the city have a reputation for crime although thelevels are high only in comparison with the rest of the city. Itis still much safer than other big cities in Europe. Drivers alsocomplain that the roads are very congested but public transportis so efficient that there is really no need to drive in the city atall. In fact, traffic is slow because, unlike in other cities, trams, cyclists and pedestrians are given priority over cars – makinglife even easier for non-car drivers. That’s probably why thepercentage of the population who don’t have a car has risenfrom 40 percent to 45 percent in the last decade. All in all, you can find a great standard of life in Zurich._______________________________________________________Surveys show that Zurich is the fifth best place in theworld in which to live.

Приклад запитання: Read the text and answear the questionsPolitical systems vary across the globe, each shaped by unique historical, cultural, and social factors. Let's explore the political situation and systems in Ukraine, the UK, and Canada.Ukraine:In Ukraine, the political landscape has been marked by a struggle for sovereignty and self-determination. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, Ukraine declared its independence and adopted a democratic republic system of governance. The Constitution of Ukraine, proclaimed in 1996, establishes a division of powers among the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. The President serves as the head of state and is elected by popular vote, while the Prime Minister heads the government and is appointed by the President and approved by the parliament, known as the Verkhovna Rada. Despite progress towards democracy, Ukraine has faced challenges with corruption and political instability, impacting its journey towards a more transparent and accountable governance system. The United Kingdom:The United Kingdom (UK) is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary democracy. The UK's political system is characterized by its long-cherished traditions and institutions, including the monarchy, parliament, and judiciary. The Prime Minister, appointed by the monarch, leads the executive branch, while the legislative power is vested in the Parliament, consisting of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The UK operates under an unwritten constitution, which is based on statutes, common law, and conventions. Political awareness and participation are central to the UK's democratic process, with regular elections and a strong emphasis on individual rights and freedoms.Canada:Canada is a federal parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy, with a political system similar to that of the United Kingdom. The Constitution Act of 1867 established Canada as a federation, with powers divided between the federal government and the provinces. The Canadian Parliament consists of the House of Commons and the Senate, with the Prime Minister serving as the head of government. The Governor General, representing the Crown, serves as the head of state. Canada's political system emphasizes inclusivity and diversity, with a commitment to multiculturalism and bilingualism. The Charter of Rights and Freedoms, enshrined in the Constitution Act of 1982, guarantees fundamental rights and freedoms for all Canadians, ensuring a democratic and just society. The main reason for Ukraine's current political system is:
